Head to Head
Germany lead the head to head 15-13 with four draws between the nations. The most recent meeting ended in a dour 0-0 draw in 2017.
England Form
England secured top spot in the group - and a home last 16 tie at Wembley - with a 1-0 win over Czech Republic.
Raheem Sterling got the only goal of the game at Wembley to ensure England topped Group D with seven points from a possible nine.
Sterling had also scored the winner in a 1-0 in over Croatia in the opening game. England were then poor in a 0-0 draw with Scotland.
England have now won eight of their last nine matches in all competitions and conceded just one goal during this run.
England Team News
Goalkeepers: Aaron Ramsdale, Sam Johnstone, Jordan Pickford
Defenders: Ben Chilwell, Conor Coady, Reece James, Harry Maguire, Tyrone Mings, Luke Shaw, John Stones, Kieran Trippier, Kyle Walker, Ben White
Midfielders: Jude Bellingham, Jordan Henderson, Mason Mount, Kalvin Phillips, Declan Rice
Forwards: Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Phil Foden, Jack Grealish, Harry Kane, Marcus Rashford, Bukayo Saka, Jadon Sancho, Raheem Sterling
England could still have Ben Chilwell and Mason Mount unavailable after both have spent the last 10 days self isolating from the rest of the squad.
Gareth Southgate faces a decision of whether to recall Phil Foden or stick with Bakayo Saka in a wide forward role.
If Mount is available, he could also come into contention with Jack Grealish's place in the side at risk.
Jordan Henderson played 45 minutes against the Czech Republic and could replace Declan Rice in the starting line-up if Southgate opts for experience.
Germany Form
Germany needed an 84th minute equaliser from substitute Leon Goretzka to avoid the ignominy of being eliminated at the group stage.
Goretzka came off the bench to earn Joachim Löw's side a 2-2 draw to secure second spot in Group F.
Germany had lost 1-0 to France in their Euro 2020 opener before keeping hopes alive with a 4-2 victory over Portugal.
Kai Havertz scored in that crucial win and was also on the scoresheet as Die Mannschaft twice came from behind against Hungary.
Germany Team News
Goalkeepers: Manuel Neuer (captain), Bernd Leno, Kevin Trapp
Defenders: Antonio Rüdiger, Marcel Halstenberg, Matthias Ginter, Mats Hummels, Niklas Süle, Lukas Klostermann, Robin Gosens, Emre Can, Robin Koch, Christian Günter

Forwards: Kai Havertz, Leroy Sané, Kevin Volland, Serge Gnabry, Thomas Müller, Timo Werner
Defender Lukas Klostermann remains out with a knee injury, but Joachim Löw should have Thomas Müller available.
Müller played the last 23 minutes on his return to action against Hungary, and is expected to replace Leroy Sane in the starting line-up.
Leon Goretzka, the late hero against Hungary, is pushing for a start.
Midfielder Jonas Hofmann is doubtful with the knee injury which kept him out of the Hungary game.
