Season preview
The Capitals will be hoping for a massive improvement on last season, when they finished second from bottom of the IPL table. The Capitals are the poor cousins of the IPL, having never made it past the semi-final stage of the IPL… but their squad is packed with power. If they play to their potential they should be serious contenders this season.
New players
Some exciting talent has been added to the Capitals squad, with the acquisition of Shai Hope, Jhye Richardson, Tristan Stubbs, Sumit Kumar, Kumar Kushagra, Ricky Bhui, Rasikh Salam Dar and Swastik Chikara.
Key players
Lungi Ngidi has been ruled out through injury, which is a massive blow as the South African is one of the more dangerous and difficult bowlers to face in world cricket. Powerhouse English batter Harry Brook is a new signing but has withdrawn due to a family bereavement. Brook is replaced by hard-hitting Jake Fraser-McGurk, but he has yet to prove himself at the top level.
Openers David Warner and Prithvi Shaw will be backed by skipper Rishabh Pant, Shai Hope, Tristan Stubbs and Mitchell Marsh. Bowling is strong, with Marsh, Anrich Nortje, Ishant Sharma, Jhye Richardson and Kuldeep Yadav.
