Women’s T20 Cricket World Cup - Proteas bowlers to back

Editor
Last updated: 2 hours ago

The Proteas women’s cricket team continues to shine thanks to its formidable pace bowling attack. Standouts include Nonkululeko Mlaba, who finished second in the 2024 World Cup wicket charts with 12 wickets, and Marizanne Kapp, who ranked fourth in 2023 with nine wickets. Alongside other consistent performers like Shabnim Ismail and Ayabonga Khaka, the team’s bowling depth is a clear strong point. The key takeaway is that South Africa’s strength in pace could be pivotal in future tournaments.

Proteas’ pace is their strong point

Just like the men’s side, pace is one of the cornerstones of the Proteas’ women’s sides. Nonkululeko Mlaba starred with the ball in the 2024 World Cup, taking 12 wickets and finishing second on the wickets list, including 2/31 in the final.

In 2023 Marizanne Kapp finished fourth on the wickets list with nine victims, with Shabnim Ismail hot on her heels with eight wickets in joint fifth spot.
