India have won nine of their last 11 T20Is against Sri Lanka.
Sri Lanka have lost their last five completed T20Is in a row.
The Nisshin track should once again offer plenty for the spinners, with scores likely to be well under 150.

India are unbeaten in their last four completed T20Is while Sri Lanka have lost their last four T20Is, which suggests that this should be a comfortable win for India.

India’s Abhishek Sharma has scores of 82, 39 & 108 in 4 innings.
India’s Ishan Kishan hit 80, 43 and 38* in his last 5 knocks.
India’s Arshdeep Singh has figures of 3/19 & 2/35 in 2 matches.
Sri Lanka’s Niroshan Dickwella has racked up 480 runs in 28 T20Is.
Sri Lanka’s Chamika Karunaratne scored 308 runs in 45 T20Is.
Sri Lanka’s Nuwan Thushara has taken 36 wickets in 31 matches.

Head-to-Head

India have won their last five T20Is against Sri Lanka.

India Form

India’s understrength squad endured a testing warm-up against Japan in a rain-shortened five-over contest, underlining the challenge of adjusting to unfamiliar conditions. Captain Shreyas Iyer will be seeking a more convincing display, but despite several leading players being involved in the home series against the West Indies, India still possess considerable quality.

Their batting remains the major strength. Ishan Kishan has scored 311 runs in his last 10 T20Is at a strike rate of 145, while Abhishek Sharma has added 269 runs at an explosive strike rate of 203.

India also have plenty of bowling options. Ravi Bishnoi has taken seven wickets in his previous six matches and could thrive in Japanese conditions, while Arshdeep Singh brings experience with 140 wickets from his 94 T20Is.

Sri Lanka Form

Sri Lanka begin their Asian Games campaign with a youthful squad captained by all-rounder Sahan Arachchige. The team features several promising batters and a number of quality all-rounders capable of making an impact.

Niroshan Dickwella provides valuable experience, having scored 480 runs in 28 T20Is at a strike rate of 133, while Chamika Karunaratne has contributed 308 runs from 45 T20 matches.

With the ball, Nuwan Thushara has collected 36 wickets in 31 matches, while Binura Fernando has taken 24 wickets across his 24 T20Is.

Team News

Sri Lanka know they are up against a formidable adversary and without some of their top players they aren’t likely to offer India much resistance. They are unlikely to change their lineup as they will be eager to give their players valuable match experience against a strong opposition.

India (possible XI): Sanju Samson, Abhishek Sharma, Ishan Kishan, Shreyas Iyer (c), Tilak Varma, Axar Patel, Shivam Dube, Ravi Bishnoi, Arshdeep Singh, Yash Thakur, Washington Sundar.

Sri Lanka (possible XI): Lasith Croospulle, Sineth Jayawardena, Niroshan Dickwella, Ashen Bandara, Sahan Arachchige (c), Niroshan Dickwella, Chamika Karunaratne, Nuwan Thushara, Binura Fernando, Vijayakanth Viyaskanth, Garuka Sanketh.

Verdict
