Namibia vs Zimbabwe Predictions

Namibia have a game in hand over Zimbabwe, but that match is against the in-form South Africans. If Namibia lose to Zimbabwe they would have to beat South Africa in the final match which would leave all three teams on four points, so there is everything to play for in this match.

  • Namibia’s Jan Frylinck has scored 100, 68, 60 & 22 in his last 4 knocks.
  • Namibia’s Alexander Busing-Volschenk has scores of 73* & 56 in his last 3 innings.
  • Namibia’s Gerhard Erasmus took 3/46 in the last match against Zimbabwe.
  • Zimbabwe’s Ryan Burl has scored 20, 54* & 57* in his last 5 matches.
  • Zimbabwe’s Brian Bennett has scores of 32, 34, & 32 in 5 innings.
  • Zimbabwe’s Brad Evans has taken 2/41, 3/41 & 2/33 in his last 4 innings.

Head-to-Head

Zimbabwe have won four and lost one of their last five T20Is against Namibia, including the last two in a row.

Namibia Form

Namibia pulled off a sensational win over South Africa in their opener, only to stumble to another defeat to Zimbabwe. Ruben Trumpelmann (3/24) and JJ Smit (3/31) starred with the ball against the Proteas, while Gerhard Erasmus (3/46) was the pick of their bowlers against Zimbabwe.

Louren Steenkamp (41 off 29) and Jan Frylinck (60 off 38) added 80 for the first wicket to set up the win over South Africa in their opener but they had little support from the top order. Namibia’s top order also crumbled in their last match against Zimbabwe before batters seven and eight kept them in the hunt.

Zane Green (54 off 26) and Alexander Busing-Volschenk (56 off 29) added 110 for the seventh wicket but Namibia lost their last four wickets for four runs to lose by five runs.

Zimbabwe Form

Zimbabwe lost both of their matches against South Africa by large margins (seven wickets and 43 runs) but they enjoyed a five-run win over Namibia.

Wessly Madhevere (3/20) and Brad Evans (2/33) were in form against South Africa, with Evans also starring in the win over Namibia, picking up 3/41.

Sikandar Raza top-scored against South Africa with an innings of 45 off 33 balls, while against Namibia Ben Curran (38 off 22), Brian Bennett (32 off 21), Ryan Burl (57* off 32) and Evans (37* off 24) all weighing in with the bat.

Team news

Namibia will be looking for a solid performance from their top order after two substandard performances, but they will be hard pushed to overcome the Zimbabwe attack.

Namibia (possible XI): Louren Steenkamp, Jan Frylinck, Gerhard Erasmus (c), Jan Nicol Loftie-Eaton, Zane Green, Alexander Volschenk, JJ Smit, Ruben Trumpelmann, Bernard Scholtz, Jack Brassell, Max Heingo.

Zimbabwe (possible XI): Brian Bennett, Ben Curran, Dion Myers, Sikandar Raza (c), Ryan Burl, Wesley Madhavere, Tadiwanashe Marumani, Brad Evans, Graeme Cremer, Newman Nyamhuri, Blessing Muzarabani.

Verdict

Zimbabwe are tipped strongly to take the win. Brad Evans is in great form with the ball and is backed to pick up wickets again. Jan Frylinck, Gerhard Erasmus and Ryan Burl are also backed to take wickets and score runs.
