Pakistan vs Sri Lanka 3rd T20I Predictions - Sadaqat to power Pakistan to series whitewash

Editor
Last updated: 3 hours ago

Pakistan are strong favourites to secure a 3-0 series win over Sri Lanka, buoyed by impressive performances from Maaz Sadaqat with the bat and Mohammad Imran, who has already taken five wickets in the first two matches. While Pakistan dominate predictions, Kusal Mendis and Eshan Malinga are identified as key players to watch for Sri Lanka, suggesting they could play pivotal roles in the final match.

Pakistan vs Sri Lanka Predictions

Pakistan have dominated Sri Lanka in T20Is in the last two years, including winning the last three T20Is on the bounce. This should be a fairly high-scoring match as the average first innings score at Rawalpindi in recent times has been 182.

  • Pakistan’s Maaz Sadaqat has scored 23, 50 & 96 in his last 3 knocks.
  • Pakistan’s Sahibzada Farhan has scores of 89 & 73 in his last 2 innings.
  • Pakistan’s Mohammad Imran has figures of 2/21 & 3/11 in 2 matches.
  • Pakistan have won 5 of their last 6 T20Is against Sri Lanka.
  • Sri Lanka’s Kusal Mendis has scored 42, 131 & 35 in his last 5 matches.
  • Sri Lanka’s Lahiru Udara scored 91 in the 1st T20I vs Pakistan.
  • Sri Lanka’s Eshan Malinga has taken 2/50, 2/33 & 1/41 in his last 4 matches.

Head-to-Head

Pakistan have won three and lost one of their last five T20Is against Sri Lanka, with one match being abandoned. Pakistan are on a three-match winning streak against Sri Lanka.

Pakistan Form

Pakistan have dominated the series so far and will look to complete a 3-0 sweep after controlling both previous matches. Sahibzada Farhan has led from the front and his side now holds a clear psychological advantage over Sri Lanka.

Farhan has scored 883 runs in the last 12 months and will again be central at the top alongside Fakhar Zaman. Maaz Sadaqat impressed with a match-winning innings in the previous game, while Hasan Nawaz, Saim Ayub, Khawaja Nafay and Shadab Khan add depth and finishing power.

Abrar Ahmed remains the key bowling threat after taking 24 wickets in the last 12 months. Salman Mirza, Naseem Shah and Mohammad Imran Randhawa give Pakistan further variety.

Sri Lanka Form

Sri Lanka come into this match under pressure after a disappointing display in the previous game, particularly with the ball. Kusal Mendis will want a strong response as his side looks to rebuild confidence.

Lahiru Udara has shown good form on tour and will be expected to provide a solid start with Sineth Jayawardena. Mendis remains the key batter after scoring 573 runs in the last 12 months, with Kamindu Mendis and Sahan Arachchige offering support through the middle order. Dasun Shanaka and Chamindu Wickramasinghe provide late hitting power.

The bowling attack needs improvement. Maheesh Theekshana has taken 21 wickets in the last 12 months and will be crucial through the middle overs alongside Eshan Malinga.

Team News

Rawalpindi favours the batters batting as the pitch offers good pace and bounce, although the spinners can find assistance. Sides are generally more successful chasing which makes bowling first the choice when winning the toss.

Pakistan (possible XI): Sahibzada Farhan (c), Fakhar Zaman, Maaz Sadaqat, Hasan Nawaz, Saim Ayub, Khawaja Nafay, Shadab Khan, Mohammad Imran Randhawa, Naseem Shah, Salman Mirza, Abrar Ahmed.

Sri Lanka (possible XI): Kusal Mendis (c), Lahiru Udara, Sineth Jayawardena, Kamindu Mendis, Sahan Arachchige, Dasun Shanaka, Chamindu Wickramasinghe, Maheesh Theekshana, Eshan Malinga, Binura Fernando, Nuwan Thushara.

Verdict

Pakistan are strong favourites to take the win for a 3-0 series win. Maaz Sadaqat is in great form with the bat and Mohammad Imran has taken five wickets in the two matches this series.
