Durban City vs AmaZulu Predictions - Usuthu to win to zero on Tuesday

AmaZulu are tipped to continue their impressive form against Durban City, who have managed just one win in their last 15 league matches despite appointing Eric Tinkler as coach. AmaZulu have won their last three matches, including both recent head-to-head encounters with Durban City by a 1-0 scoreline. With Durban City missing Gaston Sirino and AmaZulu's attackers in strong form, the prediction is a 1-0 win for AmaZulu. Key players and lineup updates are also provided.

Durban City vs AmaZulu Predictions

AmaZulu are in great form, whilst Durban City are struggling. I’m tipping AmaZulu to win 1-0 in this one, despite the appointment of Eric Tinkler.

Key Stats – Tight Draw Tipped

  • Durban City have just 1 win in their last 15 PSL matches.
  • Durban City have lost 1-0 in their last 2 matches vs AmaZulu.
  • AmaZulu have won their last 3 matches.
  • AmaZulu have won 1-0 in their last 2 matches.

Head to Head – Two Usuthu Wins

These clubs have met just twice since Durban City were formed. AmaZulu won 1-0 at home in the first meeting and 1-0 away in the return fixture in May 2026.

Durban City Form – One Win in 15 League Matches

Durban City have tasted victory just once in their last 15 Betway Premiership matches. They have changed coach during the FIFA break and appointed Eric Tinkler to steady the ship.

They won 2-0 at Kruger United before A 0-0 home draw vs Stellenbosch. In the CAF Confederations Cup, Durban City beat Rukinzo 1-0 at home and then won 2-1 away in Burundi in the second leg.

A 2-0 defeat to Orlando Pirates was followed by a disappointing 1-1 draw away at Milford FC. They produced just 0.40 xG and allowed their opponents 2.01 xG in a fortunate result.

AmaZulu’s Hot Form – 16 Points From Seven League Matches

AmaZulu are flying this season, with 16 points from seven rounds of action. They have won their last three matches by one-goal margins.

A 2-0 home win vs Siwelele with 2.18 xG was followed by a 5-2 loss at Mamelodi Sundowns as they were outshot 21-6. A 2-1 win at Richards Bay saw a strong response to that thrashing.

Usuthu beat ten-man Marumo Gallants 1-0 before a 1-0 at Polokwane City. They only put up 0.50 xG but held firm to secure a third victory on the bounce.

Predicted Lineups & Team News

Durban City (4-3-3): Asare; Shandu, Ncanana, Msomi, Mokone; Jurgens, Sanger, Poggenpoel; Maseko, Lwamba, Sifumba.

New coach Eric Tinkler is without Gaston Sirino in attack due to suspension. Brooklyn Poggenpoel will captain the side after excelling in his first two caps for Bafana Bafana during the FIFA break.

Jean Mwamba is expected to be recalled up front. Luphumlo Sifumba scored from the bench in the last match and could be handed a start on the wing.

AmaZulu (3-4-3): Mzimela; Mthethwa, Fielies, Hanamub; Radebe, Mhlongo, Hlangabeza, Mdaka; Mbanjwa, Ngwenya, Maqokola.

Centre back Zouzou Landry has joined the club but is not expected to start. Hendrick Ekstein and Sphesihle Maduna are now fully fit to boost the creative areas.

Liam Bern and Keegan Allan were mainstays last season, but may again find themselves benched in this one. Striker Thando Ngwenya has scored in every appearance this season (10 goals in eight outings).

Verdict

I see a 1-0 win for AmaZulu in this one.
