Arsenal vs Lille
Both sides have been in good form but Arsenal definitely hold the upper hand having won nine of their last 10 matches. Lille have five wins in 10 and have kept three clean sheets in their last six matches while scoring 16 goals in their last 10.
Lille have scored in each of their last 10 matches on the road, averaging two goals per game. Arsenal have scored seven times in their last three home matches so I’m backing them to win but with Lille finding the back of the net.
Villarreal vs Napoli
Villareal have soaked up three defeats and picked up two wins in five matches while scoring nine goals. Napoli have two wins and two defeats in five but have netted just seven times.
Napoli have one win and one defeat in their three matches on the road this season while Villareal have two defeats and one win at home in La Liga this season. Goals have flowed at home for Villareal in those last three matches with a goal spread of 6:6 while Napoli have a 5:4 goal spread on the road, so this looks like a game heavy on goals, but I’m going for a score draw.
Inter vs Club Brugge
Inter are in superb form and scoring plenty of goals, netting 12 times in their last four matches to pick up three wins and a draw. Club Brugge also have 12 goals in four but in the lighter Belgium league. They have won their last three matches on the bounce after losing 2-3 at home to Aston Villa in the first round of the Champions League.
Inter are a powerhouse at home, being unbeaten in their last 13 home matches, winning 11 times. They have netted 17 times in their last four matches, so goals should flow. Club Brugge have won their last two matches on the road, scoring 10 times in their last five matches away from home, so they will be full of attack against Inter, although Inter are strong favourites for the win.
Atletico Madrid vs Man United
After losing 2-1 away to Liverpool in Round 1 of the Champions League Atletico won their last four matches with two clean sheets and just two goals against while scoring 11 times. They’ve won five of their last six at home (one draw), conceding just four goals while scoring 15 times.
United had a poor September and start to October, losing 1-0 to Man City in controversial fashion before losing 3-2 at home to Brighton in the League Cup. They drew their last two matches in the Premier League 1-1 to Fulham and Spurs, so they are ripe for the taking.
United have been goalless just twice in 10 matches so I’m backing an Atletico win with United to score.
Verdict
I’m backing goals between Arsenal and Lille as well as Inter vs Club Brugge. Arsenal to beat Lille and Atletico Madrid to take Man United down.
