The Trent Rockets began their season with a defeat, but there were still positives to take from their opening match. Ben Duckett and Finn Allen looked solid at the top, while Tom Banton produced a strong effort at No. 3 during a demanding run chase.

The bigger concern will be the bowling attack, which conceded 214 after being asked to bowl first. A sharper response will be needed, especially from a unit that includes quality pace options. Finn Allen also comes in with strong short-format form, having scored 90-plus twice in his previous five T20 appearances before the season.

In the middle order, Tim David and Sam Billings will be important if early wickets fall. David brings explosive hitting, while Billings adds experience. There is also useful depth through all-rounders Mitchell Santner and Lewis Gregory.

With the ball, Matt Henry is expected to lead the pace attack and will be key alongside left-armer Mohammad Amir. Early wickets from that pair could be crucial if the Rockets are to bounce back quickly.

London Spirit Form

London Spirit will be frustrated after falling seven runs short in a chase of 139. With Liam Livingstone and Dewald Brevis in the middle order, they would have expected to get over the line at Lord’s.

Their batting lineup may not have the same star power as some other teams, but there is enough experience for a better response. Livingstone will want more from the top order after a disappointing start.

The bowling attack did show promise, with Adam Milne, James Coles and Adam Zampa all performing well. That gives the Spirit a strong platform, provided the batting unit can offer more support.
