Tasman vs North Harbour Predictions - Tasman to cruise to opening NPC win

Tasman are strong favourites at home vs North Harbour, who ended last season with just one win out of ten NPC matches and a -104 points difference. Historical head-to-heads also tip the scales with Tasman winning their last two meetings, including a convincing away win in 2025. While international players are absent, both teams will field experienced players. The main recommendation is to back Tasman to cover the -19.5 handicap, considering North Harbour's recent form and position.

Tasman vs North Harbour Predictions

Tasman are clear favourites at home against a North Harbour side that lost nine of their 10 matches last season. I am backing Tasman to cover the -19.5 handicap in this one.

  • Tasman have won their last 2 matches against North Harbour.
  • North Harbour lost 9 of their last 10 NPC matches.
  • North Harbour finished bottom of the NPC table in 2025.

Head to Head

Tasman have won three of their last five matches against North Harbour. In 2025, Tasman won 43-19 away from home.

Tasman Form

Tasman had a disappointing NPC campaign in 2025, finishing sixth on the table with five wins and five defeats. They went into the season as clear favourites to win the title, but their performances never lived up to the hype.

In the quarterfinal of the 2025 NPC campaign, Tasman lost out to Bay of Plenty away from home. They hope to push on this season and get a home quarterfinal berth at the very least, which means a top four finish.

In Tasman’s favour is that despite having an average season, they did beat North Harbour convincingly away from home.

North Harbour Form

North Harbour were atrocious last season, winning just one of their 10 matches. They finished bottom of the table with just 10 points.

It was a strange season as North Harbour certainly had a better side than the position they finished, but they just couldn’t put any consistent performances together.

Results across the season do, however, tell a story. North Harbour finished the campaign with a -104 points difference, which was quite a lot better than the three teams immediately above them.

So, while they failed to get results, North Harbour did push a lot of teams a lot closer than those above them, they just failed to get over the line.

Tasman vs North Harbour Team News

With the international players missing from all teams, we are mostly going to see fringe players, however, both sides have players with several Super Rugby caps to their name.

Verdict

Tamsan are backed to cover the -19.5 handicap at home against North Harbour.
