Ivory Coast marked their 12-year absence from the Women's Africa Cup of Nations with an emphatic victory over Burkina Faso on Monday, winning 4-1.

Before that performance, Ivory Coast won 3-0 and drew 0-0 against Cape Verde, and lost 1-0 to Ghana before beating Mali 1-0 in four tune-up matches before the start of the tournament between June and July.

Ivory Coast had the perfect start to their campaign and will be out to collect another three points; however, they now face stronger opposition in South Africa, who won this tournament in 2022.
