Spain are tipped to cover the handicap in their World Rugby Nations Cup match against Uruguay. Spain have won two of their last four fixtures and two of their last three meetings with Uruguay, while Uruguay have struggled in the competition, failing to secure a win in their opening matches and losing three of their last five games. Spain's stronger form and recent head-to-head advantage provide the main reasons for this selection.

Spain vs Uruguay Predictions

Spain have had a decent start to their World Rugby Nations Cup campaign. Uruguay have yet to win a fixture in the competition and have not had much success against Spain in recent matchups.

  • Spain have won 2 of their last 4 fixtures.
  • Spain have won 2 of their last 3 matches against Uruguay.
  • Uruguay have lost 3 of their last 5 games.

Head to Head

Spain have a slight edge over Uruguay, with eight victories to seven in 15 meetings.

Spain Form

Spain started their World Rugby Nations Cup campaign in July with a 42-42 draw with Canada and a 32-19 victory over Tonga before losing 29-22 to the USA.

The Los Leones are third in the European-African-Asian Pool with nine points after three rounds.

Earlier this year, the Spaniards had some success at the 2026 Rugby Europe Championship, beating the Netherlands 51-33 and Switzerland 53-14, before losing to Georgia 42-30 in the group stages. They then faced Portugal in the semi-finals, losing 26-7 before beating Romania 29-23 in the third-place play-off match.

Spain have had a decent start in the competition and have had success against Uruguay in clashes, giving them the edge to come out on top against their opponents.

Uruguay Form

Uruguay struggled during the opening fixtures of the 2026 World Rugby Nations Cup, losing 41-34 to Georgia, drawing 36-36 with Romania, and losing 42-40 to Hong Kong China.

Los Teros are sixth in the Americas-Pacific Pool with seven points from three matches.

Before that, the team from South America did have some success in November last year. They lost 52-17 to Argentina before defeating Portugal 26-8 and Romania 31-21.

Uruguay have yet to get going in the competition and will have to produce a clinical performance to get the result against Spain, as they have lost two of their last three meetings against their opponents.
