English Championship Predictions - 12 September, Matchday 7

Editor
Last updated: 44 minutes ago

For Matchday 7 of the English Championship, our analysis favors wins for Swansea, Millwall, Middlesbrough, and Lincoln. Swansea have enjoyed a strong start, while Burnley continues to struggle. Millwall's robust away record gives them the edge over Blackburn, who are winless in five. Middlesbrough look solid at home against Norwich, and Lincoln could upset a faltering Preston side. The main recommendation is to back these four teams for victory, based on recent form and key stats from their respective matchups.

  • Swansea to beat Burnley but to concede a goal.
  • Blackburn to be hit with a fourth straight home defeat.
  • Middlesbrough in line for a fifth win in six matches.
  • Preston's poor home form to continue with defeat to Lincoln.

English Championship Predictions - Matchday 7

Swansea vs Burnley

Burnley are battling this season and are without a win in their last seven matches, with five of those ending in defeat. They have scored in each of their six matches in the Championship but have only scored seven goals to 12.

Swansea have had a great start to the season, losing just one of their six matches in the Championship while picking up three wins. They have kept four clean sheets but sucked up a 3-1 away defeat to Southampton in their last match. Burnley have scored in eight of their last 10 matches on the road but have lost eight times and drawn two of those matches.

Blackburn vs Millwall

Blackburn are on a five-match stretch without a win, losing four times in that stretch. They have also lost their last three matches at home, so they are ripe for the picking.

Millwall have won three of their last four matches on the road and have won six of their last nine matches at home and away, with five clean sheets. Blackburn have been scoring despite their poor form and have hit the net in their last five home games, so there’s no strong flags for a win to nil, but backing Millwall for the win looks a strong call.

Middlesbrough vs Norwich

Boro have taken just two defeats in their last nine matches, winning five of those matches. Their home form is good, winning their last three on the bounce and picking up five wins and two draws in eight matches. They’ve also won three and drawn one of their last four matches at home against Norwich with a 9-2 goal spread.

Norwich have been in good form, winning four of their last five matches but losing three of their last seven matches. On the road they have failed to score in three of their last six matches and have two defeats in their last four matches, so while this has strong notes of a draw to this fixture I’m feeling strong to back a home win.

Preston vs Lincoln

Preston are spiralling after losing six of their last seven matches. They picked up a 2-1 home win over Blackburn two matches back and have scored in five of those seven matches.

Lincoln enjoyed a four-match winning streak before going down 4-0 away to Bournemouth in their last match in the League Cup. They’ve kept two clean sheets in their last five matches and have three wins in their last five matches on the road, so they have the determination to take down a Preston side that has lost three of their last four matches at home.

Verdict

I’m backing wins for Swansea, Millwall, Middlesbrough and Lincoln.
