Bournemouth vs Chelsea

Chelsea arrive off a 3–1 loss at Leeds that snapped a seven-game unbeaten run, still juggling rotation and a few key absentees. Bournemouth’s attack has cooled and Chelsea dominate the long-term head-to-head, but the Vitality stays awkward; away win with both teams scoring feels a tidier play than chasing a big handicap.

Manchester City vs Sunderland

City are free-scoring again but have been conceding far too many goals, with many too-casual for Manager Pep Guardiola’s liking. The recent thrillers for the neutral fans are highlighting some real defensive leaks at the back.

Sunderland are no mugs this season and sit sixth in the League just one point behind Chelsea. They have lost just once in seven matches, are tough as teak and are rarely overawed by big sides, although City should boss them around at the Etihad. This match screams goals to me, and I’m backing City to win with a good whack of balls hitting the back of the net.

Newcastle vs Burnley

Newcastle are mid-table but strong at St James’ and come in annoyed after letting Spurs steal a late point in their thrilling 2-2 draw midweek. Burnley are 19th in the League and on a five-match losing streak and, without Hannibal Mejbri (serving a four-match ban for spitting at Leeds fans) in their lineup, their confidence is likely to have taken a knock.

They’ve struggled badly in this fixture too, so everything points to a home win, especially considering that the Toon Army have won two and drawn one of their last three matches. Newcastle for the win is the only bet that makes sense based on the form book.

Leeds vs Liverpool

Leeds ride into this home clash on the back of their front page 3–1 shock win over Chelsea. The victory has seen them hop out of the relegation places and will have local fans in full voice against one of their traditional predators.

Defending champions Liverpool are down in ninth place, having bounced back from three defeats in a row to snatch a win at West Ham and a home draw against Sunderland. Despite Leeds’ likely bravado, even an inconsistent Liverpool should be far too strong for the lads from Elland Road in what is likely to be something of a frantic game with both sides desperate for points.

It’s looking like a goals bonanza in at least three of Saturday’s matches in the Premier league, but those matches are likely to be tough encounters for both sides.
