Angola vs Libya Predictions - Angola to keep slim World Cup qualifying hopes alive

Angola and Libya face a crucial World Cup qualifier with both teams needing results to keep their qualification hopes alive. Angola's strong home form gives them an edge, but recent draws have hindered their progress. Libya, slightly ahead in Group D, must secure positive results in the remaining fixtures to challenge for top spots. Key head-to-head encounters have ended in draws, highlighting the tight competition. Action Point: Angola must capitalize on home advantage, while Libya cannot afford to drop more points going forward.

Angola vs Libya Predictions

Angola’s home form has actually been very good over the last 18 months. They have struggled in the World Cup qualifiers though and will need a big result here to stay in touch with the top two. I’m backing a home win to nil.

  • Angola have drawn 3 of their last 4 matches.
  • Angola are unbeaten in 6 of their last 7 matches.
  • Libya have lost 3 of their last 6 matches.
  • Libya have seen under 2.5 goals in 4 of their last 5 matches.

Head to Head

These two sides drew 1-1 in March 2025.

Angola Form

Angola are currently fourth on the Group D table with seven points. They have drawn four and won one of their six fixtures in the group.

While Angola have played quite a bit of football of late, I am going to discount their CHAN and COSAFA Cup results as they, like other sides, fielded nowhere near their strongest side in those tournaments.

In their last set of World Cup qualifiers, Angola lost ground on the top two. They drew 1-1 with Libya before losing out 2-1 at home to Cape Verde. Both were very disappointing results which has cost them dearly in their attempt to qualify.

Libya Form

Libya sit above Angola in third place in Group D of the World Cup qualifiers. They have won two, lost two and drawn two of their six games but the gap is four points to second and five to top.

That means that Libya will need quite a few positive results in their final four qualifiers to challenge the top two. It has to start here as a win will at the very least keep the gap at four.

Libya held Angola to a 1-1 draw when they met in March before losing 3-1 in Cameroon a few days later.

Verdict

I am backing Angola to win to nil. A 1-0 scoreline is backed.
