Head to Head

Argentina have the advantage over Switzerland, with five victories to none and two draws in seven meetings.

Argentina Form

Argentina mounted a late second-half comeback against Egypt in the round of 16 at the 2026 FIFA World Cup on Tuesday, securing a controversial 3-2 victory.

La Albiceleste had 58% possession and 17 shots in the game, with seven attempts on target.

Before that result, Argentina endured another five-goal thriller against Cape Verde in the round of 32, winning 3-2.

La Scaloneta had no trouble during the group stage of the tournament, beating Algeria 3-0, Austria 2-0, and Jordan 3-1.

La Albiceleste have won all of their last five matches, scoring 14 goals and conceding five.

Argentina have had to dig deep to win their previous two matches, led from the front by Lionel Messi, but they will have the belief that they can beat Switzerland in the quarter-finals, as they have never suffered a defeat against their opponents.

Switzerland Form

Switzerland were held to a 0-0 draw with Colombia in their round of 16 clash on Tuesday, but prevailed in the penalty shoot-out, winning 4-3 to advance to the quarter-finals.

The Swiss had 53% possession and seven shots in the match, with two attempts on target.

In the round of 32, Switzerland faced off against Algeria, winning by two goals to nil.

Earlier in the tournament, the Nati did not have the best start to the FIFA World Cup group stage campaign, drawing 1-1 with Qatar before defeating Bosnia-Herzegovina 4-1 and Canada 2-1.

The Rossocrociati have won four of their last five matches, with one draw. They scored nine goals and conceded three.

Switzerland have quietly gone about their business at the World Cup but now face their toughest challenge yet against the defending champions, Argentina, who are on a 12-match winning streak.
