Wales take on Ghana for the first time ever, with both teams hoping for a confidence-boosting result. Wales missed out on the 2026 World Cup, plagued by inconsistency and defensive issues, while Ghana qualified but enters this match following a poor run of form and recent managerial change. Both teams have scored in seven of their last 10 matches yet have struggled defensively, making a goal-filled encounter likely. The recommended bet is 'Yes' for Both Teams to Score.

Wales vs Ghana Predictions

Ghana, unlike Wales, are going to the World Cup with the latters inconsistency costing them a place. However, Ghana's form ahead of the tournament has not been strong, so this could be an open, goal-fest.

  • Wales have scored in seven of their last 10 matches in all competitions.
  • Wales have conceded in seven of their last 10 matches in all competitions.
  • Ghana have scored in seven of their last 10 matches in all competitions.
  • Ghana have conceded in six of their last 10 matches in all competitions.

Head to Head

This will be the first-ever meeting between Wales and Ghana at any level.

Wales Form

Wales are not going to the 2026 FIFA World Cup after losing to Bosnia & Herzegovina on penalties during the intercontinental playoffs in March. They battled to a 1-1 draw after extra time before falling in the shootout.

While it was a disappointing outcome, the result highlights Wales’ erratic showings lately. Craig Bellamy’s team have only won two of their last seven matches in all competitions and played out a 1-1 draw with Northern Ireland in their previous friendly in March.

Among the issues for Wales is a leaky back line that has failed to keep a clean sheet in seven of their last 10 home matches in all competitions. However, the Dragons have also scored in seven of their last 10 fixtures in all competitions.

Ghana Form

Ghana are going to the World Cup after a solid campaign where they won eight of their 10 qualifying matches. However, it has been mostly downhill since then, failing to qualify for the AFCON in Morocco and changing managers just months before the start of the Mundial, with Carlos Queiroz the new man in charge.

The Black Stars come into this match off the back of successive defeats in their last five friendlies. Among their results is a 5-1 defeat to Austria, while they also fell 2-0 to Mexico in their previous fixture.

One positive for Ghana is that they have some attacking quality and have scored in seven of their last 10 matches in all competitions. However, they have failed to keep clean sheets in six of those fixtures.

Wales vs Ghana Predicted Lineups & Team News

Wales (4-2-3-1): Karl Darlow; Neco Williams, Joe Rodon, Chris Mepham, Ben Davies; Ethan Ampadu, Josh Sheehan; Daniel James, David Brooks, Brennan Johnson; Lewis Koumas.

Captain Ben Davies returns for Wales, having been out with Injury since January. Meanwhile, defender Ben Cabango and forward Harry Wilson were part of the initial squad but pulled out through injury.

Ghana (4-3-3): Benjamin Asare; Marvin Senaya, Alexander Djiku, Jerome Opoku, Abdul Rahman Baba; Thomas Partey, Elisha Owusu, Caleb Yirenkyi; Kamaldeen Sulemana, Antoine Semenyo, Jordan Ayew.

Mohamed Kudus misses out on Ghana's World Cup squad, with the forward still ruled out with injury. Majeed Ashimeru and Ibrahim Osman are also not a part of the contingent despite featuring in the friendly with Mexico.

Verdict

Having found things difficult lately, Wales and Ghana will come into this clash desperate for some positivity. Both teams have quality in attack, and given their defensive frailties, could be backed to score in this one.
