Hoffenheim vs Hamburger

Hoffenheim are having a stinker, losing four of their last five matches but scoring seven goals albeit conceding 12. They are strong at home, with four wins from five matches, scoring 11 goals and keeping two clean sheets.

Hamburger have lost both of their two away matches in the league this season by a combined 7-0 scoreline. They were goalless through three heavy defeats in a row before fighting back with a 2-1 win over FC Koln followed by a 2-0 win over FC Copenhagen.

Both teams have goals in them, but Hamburger’s list of goalless matches has me concerned, so instead of backing both sides to score I’m backing four goals or more in the match.

Union Berlin vs Elversberg

Union Berlin have just one point from four matches in the Bundesliga this season, drawing their first match before losing their last three matches 4-0, 3-1 and 7-0. They recovered some confidence with a 1-0 win in a friendly against Croatian side Rijeka at the start of the international break, but their Bundesliga form gives me confidence to back their visitors to take the win.

Elversberg scored six wins and a draw in their first seven matches of the season but have picked up just one point in their last three matches. They forced a 0-0 away draw with Schalke and lost twice by 2-1 goal margins, so they are still highly competitive so I’m backing them to kick back to winning ways.

Paderborn vs VfB Stuttgart

Paderborn were unbeaten for their first five matches this season but then went three matches without a goal, losing twice and sharing a 0-0 draw. They hit back with a 3-1 win over Hoffenheim in their last match in the Bundesliga. They have scored 15 goals in their last 10 matches so I’m backing them to find the net in a losing cause against Stuttgart.

Stuttgart have had a terrible start to the season, losing three of their four matches in the league this season. They enjoyed 3-0 and 5-0 wins in friendlies around the international break so with the class they have in their squad I’m backing them to get their season really rolling with a win but without a clean sheet.

Mainz vs Bayer Leverkusen

Mainz have been in good form with three wins from four matches, scoring 13 times and conceding six goals. Their home form this season hasn’t got off to a strong start, drawing 0-0 with Paderborn and then losing 3-1 to Eintracht Frankfurt.

Leverkusen haven’t lost to Mainz in their last five meetings and have scored in their last nine matches against them. They’ve scored 10 goals in their last four matches on the road, while in their last four matches home and away they have secured three wins and a draw, scoring 10-2.

With the attacking flair of both sides this is stacking up as a goal fest.

Verdict

German Bundesliga

I’m backing plenty of goals in the games between Hoffenheim and Hamburger as well as Mainz and Bayer Leverkusen. I’m also confident to throw my hat in the ring for wins for Elversberg and VfB Stuttgart.
