The Kingsmen were short of runs in the opening match of the season but forced the Falcons to the last ball in a thrilling match.

Opener Reeza Hendricks hit four sixes in his 25-ball 42 as the Kingsmen slipped to 62/3 after eight overs. Skipper Rovman Powell added three sixes in scoring 47 off 37 balls to push the Kingsmen up to a score of 167/7 off their 20 overs.

The Falcons got off to a great start and were flying at 117/2 after 14 overs, but the Kingsmen bowlers bit back, forcing the Falcons to battle to the last ball for the win with just two balls to spare. Keemo Paul (3/29) starred with the ball along with excellent support from Hunain Shah (2/38) and Andre Russell (2/34).

Barbados Tridents Form

Barbados will enter the 2026 season with renewed identity and plenty of intrigue after the franchise officially reverted from Barbados Royals back to its historic Barbados Tridents name.

The Tridents have assembled a squad with genuine international quality. Quinton de Kock is the headline overseas signing and brings explosive top-order batting, wicketkeeping experience and proven T20 pedigree. His presence should immediately strengthen a batting unit that also includes West Indies stars Brandon King and Sherfane Rutherford.

The overseas group gives Barbados impressive variety. Chris Green offers control with the ball and leadership options, Daniel Sams adds all-round balance, Mujeeb Ur Rahman brings mystery spin and George Linde provides another valuable spin-bowling all-round option.

That mix should give the Tridents flexibility across conditions, especially with Gudakesh Motie adding further quality to the local spin department. Barbados also have emerging domestic and regional talent in players such as Ramon Simmonds and Kadeem Alleyne, giving the squad useful depth and long-term promise.

With a restored name, stronger local connection and several major signings, the Barbados Tridents will be aiming to make a bold statement in 2026.
