Namibia vs South Africa 3rd ODI Predictions - Esterhuizen and Hermann to secure 3-0 series win

Editor
Last updated: 42 minutes ago

In the upcoming 3rd ODI, South Africa enter as overwhelming favourites against Namibia. While Namibian players Gerhard Erasmus and Ruben Trumpelmann are expected to show resistance, attention is also on South Africa’s Connor Esterhuizen and Duan Jansen, both tipped to have standout performances with bat and ball. The recommendation is to back South Africa for the win but keep an eye on Erasmus and Trumpelmann for notable individual displays.

Namibia vs South Africa Predictions

South Africa have totally dominated Namibia in their historic first-ever series. Namibia’s bowlers have been plundered in both matches, while their batters have been squeezed out without reaching 180 in either match.

  • Namibia’s Gerhard Erasmus has scored 88*, 30*, 21 & 68 in his last 4 knocks.
  • Namibia’s Jan Frylinck has scores of 22 & 72 in his last 5 innings.
  • Namibia’s Ruben Trumpelmann has figures of 4/68 & 2/57 in the 2 ODIs.
  • Namibia have scored under 180 in both matches in the series
  • South Africa’s Connor Esterhuizen has scored 88, 32 & 119 in his last 4 matches.
  • South Africa’s Jordan Hermann has scored 53, 150 & 20 in his last 3 knocks.
  • South Africa’s Duan Jansen has taken 14 wickets in his last 5 innings.

Head-to-Head

South Africa have won both of the ODIs they have played against Namibia, both of which were in this current series.

Namibia Form

Namibia head into the final game under pressure after suffering two convincing defeats and will be desperate to avoid a series whitewash. Gerhard Erasmus has carried much of the batting burden, top-scoring with 68 in the previous match, but he needs greater support from the rest of the order.

Malan Kruger and Michael van Lingen both struggled last time out, while Jan Frylinck and Louren Steenkamp will be important in rebuilding the middle overs. Jan Nicol Loftie-Eaton and Zane Green provide useful finishing options if the top order can finally establish a platform.

The bowling attack has also lacked consistency, although Jack Brassell offered encouragement with four wickets in the last game. Namibia will need early breakthroughs from Brassell and Ruben Trumpelmann to disrupt South Africa’s in-form top order, while tighter middle-over spells from Jan Balt and Waldo Smith could be crucial to keeping the visitors under control.

South Africa Form

South Africa have dominated the series so far and will be aiming to complete a clean sweep after another polished performance in the previous match. Prenelan Subrayen captained the side impressively, while the batting unit has looked particularly strong at the top. Jordan Hermann has been outstanding, scoring 170 runs across two matches, and once again shapes as the key figure alongside Connor Esterhuizen.

The middle order also provides plenty of depth, with Matthew Breetzke, Tony de Zorzi and Dewald Brevis all capable of accelerating quickly, while Jason Smith and Eathan Bosch strengthen the finishing options.

South Africa’s bowling has been equally effective. Duan Jansen starred with four wickets in the last match and will again be expected to lead the attack alongside Bosch. Nqobani Mokoena and Jason Smith will be tasked with controlling the middle overs, while Subrayen and Nqabayomzi Peter offer additional spin options.

Team news

The Proteas might look to give some game time to squad players but as a lot of the playing XI are all trying to impress the coach they might stay with their winning XI to give the players extra international  experience. Namibia are likely to stick with their XI to  give their struggling players to afford them more game time against a top-quality side.

Namibia (possible XI): Gerhard Erasmus (c), Malan Kruger, Michael van Lingen, Jan Frylinck, Louren Steenkamp, Jan Nicol Loftie-Eaton, Zane Green, Jan Balt, Ruben Trumpelmann, Waldo Smith, Jack Brassell.

South Africa (possible XI): Prenelan Subrayen (c), Jordan Hermann, Connor Esterhuizen (wk), Tony de Zorzi, Matthew Breetzke, Dewald Brevis, Jason Smith, Eathan Bosch, Duan Jansen, Nqabayomzi Peter, Nqobani Mokoena.

Verdict

South Africa are overwhelming favourites to take the win, with Gerhard Erasmus and Ruben Trumpelmann backed to put up some resistance to the Proteas.

Connor Esterhuizen and Duan Jansen have been prolific with bat and ball for the Proteas and are worth backing to star again in the 3rd ODI.
