Zimbabwe vs Afghanistan Predictions

Afghanistan have had a horror run of defeats in T20Is, losing five of their last five matches. Zimbabwe have won their last five T20Is, but they were against teams ranked below the Top 10 in world cricket. I’m backing Afghanistan’s superior credentials to ensure they beat Zimbabwe.

Head-to-Head

Afghanistan have won four and lost one of their last five matches against Zimbabwe.

Zimbabwe Form

Zimbabwe made it five wins from their last five matches when they beat Namibia in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup Africa Region Final by seven wickets.

Richard Ngarava (3/26) bowled superbly as Zimbabwe restricted Namibia to 167/6 off their 20 overs.

Tadiwanashe Marumani (74* off 61) and Dion Myers (44 off 33) guided Zimbabwe to a seven-wicket win with four balls to spare.

Zimbabwe Team News

There are no injury reports from the Zimbabwe squad.

Afghanistan Form

Afghanistan came into this series on the back of a 3-0 series defeat to Bangladesh, losing the 3rd T20I by six wickets.

Darwish Rasooli top-scored with 32 off 29 as Afghanistan collapsed to 82/6. Number 10 batter Mujeeb Ur Rahman added 23* to lift his side to 143/9 off their 20 overs.

Bangladesh secured a six-wicket win with two overs to spare. Mujeeb Ur Rahman (2/26) was the pick of the Afghanistan bowlers.

Afghanistan Team News

Rashid Khan’s presence in the side is likely to be one of the keys to Afghanistan beating Zimbabwe.

Verdict

Zimbabwe v Afghanistan

I am backing Afghanistan to win. I am also backing Ibrahim Zadran to top score for Afghanistan.

Brian Bennett is a good bet to top score for Zimbabwe.
