Tonga vs Italy Predictions - Italy backed against Tonga

Tonga won their last game against Italy 19-17 back in 2016.

Tonga have not played rugby since the conclusion of the 2023 Rugby World Cup. They only managed one win in that tournament.

After losing to Ireland, Scotland and South Africa by 28+ points, Tonga eventually got a World Cup win when they beat Romania 45-24 in their final group game.

Tonga will now look to start rebuilding towards the next Rugby World Cup where they will hope for a better showing.

Tonga have a host of fresh players after quite a few players retired post the World Cup.

Italy had a disastrous Rugby World Cup in 2023. They were never expected to advance with France and New Zealand in their group, but their improvement ahead of the tournament showed that they would be competitive.

In the end, they shipped 90+ points against the All Blacks and 60 against France. The Italians did beat Uruguay and Namibia in the group stage, albeit without being convincing.

During the Six Nations Italy were back to their normal selves. They beat Scotland at home, beat Wales away and drew 13-all in France. They also only lost by three points to England at home.

Last week, Italy suffered a 33-25 loss to Samoa.
