Cameroon survived a late scare in their Women's Africa Cup of Nations semi-final match against Morocco on Wednesday, winning 3-1 on penalties after the score ended 0-0 after extra time.

The Indomitable Lionesses had 36% possession and seven shots in the match, with one attempt on target.

Earlier in the group stages at WAFCON, Cameroon edged Mali 2-1 in their opening fixture, defeated Ghana 1-0, and drew 1-1 with Cape Verde.

Cameroon then faced pre-tournament favourites, Nigeria, in the quarter-finals, coming out on top 1-0.

The Indomitable Lionesses have won four of their last five fixtures, with one draw. They scored five goals and conceded two.

Cameroon have reached their fourth final at WAFCON but have yet to win the tournament, and will have to produce another defensive display against Malawi in the final to come out on top, as their opponents have been scoring freely.

Malawi Women Form

Malawi continued their impressive run of form in this edition of WAFCON after comfortably beating Algeria 3-1 in their semi-final clash on Wednesday.

The Scorchers had 40% possession and 17 shots in the game, with seven attempts on target.

Earlier in their group-stage campaign, Malawi secured an upset victory against Nigeria, winning 3-2 and comfortably beat Egypt 3-1 before losing to Zambia 2-1.

Malawi then took on Ghana in the quarter-finals of the tournament, winning 2-1.

The Scorchers have won four of their last five fixtures, along with one defeat. They scored 12 goals and conceded seven.

Malawi have been in tremendous touch during the 2026 Women's Africa Cup of Nations, scoring plenty of goals throughout the tournament, giving the edge needed to beat Cameroon in the final and secure their first title.
