Portsmouth vs Cardiff

A poor start to the Championship for both sides, with Portsmouth losing three and winning one match, while Cardiff have three draws and one defeat.

Portsmouth have scored 1-1-1-0 goals in their four Championship matches while conceding 10. Cardiff have six goals in the bank but have let in seven. I can’t see there being many goals between these two struggling sides.

Sheffield Utd vs Norwich

United are unbeaten in the Championship after three draws and a 3-2 home win over Bolton in their last match. They started with two goalless draws but totalled three goals in their last two matches so they are clearly finding their gears.

Norwich are battling, with three defeats (1-2, 0-3 and 0-1) and one win (4-1 over Burnley) this season. They have failed to score in three of their last five away matches while United have eight goals in four home matches, with two wins and a draw in their last three matches.

Norwich haven’t beaten United away in their last five visits, so I’m confident in backing United for a home win.

West Ham vs Derby

The bookies aren’t giving Derby a hope in this clash, after losing three of their previous four matches before a strong 2-0 away win over Portsmouth in their last match.

West Ham have two wins and two draws in their last five matches and have won 4-1 and 4-2 in their last three matches. They have 12 goals in five matches to Derby’s six so their strike force should give the visitors plenty of problems.

Swansea vs Wrexham

Wrexham ended a barren run of six matches without a win and just three goals by beating Millwall 3-0 away from home. They are likely to struggle more against a potent Swansea who are riding high after winning three and drawing one of their first four matches of the Championship season.

Swansea have kept clean sheets in their last three matches, winning their last two 3-0 and 2-0. There is so much attacking power between the two sides that I’m backing both teams to score.

Verdict

English Championship

Wins for Sheffield Utd and West Ham, goals to to be tight between Portsmouth and Cardiff, while Swansea and Wrexham to both find the net.
