Belgium qualified for the World Cup without losing a match. They had four pre-tournament friendlies with some impressive results. 

A 5-2 win vs USA was followed by a 1-1 draw with Mexico. They beat Croatia 2-0 and Tunisia 5-0 on the eve of the tournament. 

Their World Cup began with a 1-1 draw vs Egypt and a shock 0-0 draw vs Iran despite outshooting their opponents 23-7. They needed to win their final match and duly produced a top display. 

The Red Devils smashed New Zealand 5-1 and secured top spot in their group. Belgium put up 3.64 xG and 35 shots in a truly one-sided affair. 

Senegal Form


Senegal scraped into the knockout stages of this tournament as one of the best third-place finishers. They lost 3-2 to USA and drew 0-0 vs Saudi Arabia just before their opening match. 

A 3-0 loss to France saw just 11 shots allowed in a match which sat at 0-0 at the break. They lost 3-2 to an Erling Haaland-inspired Norway despite a late fightback. 

Last Friday’s resounding 5-0 win over Iraq saw Senegal face ten men for 77 minutes. They put up 28 shots and 3.01 xG to qualify thanks to their goal difference.

Central defender Nathan Ngoy returns to contention after serving a one-match ban. Coach Rudi Garcia has a big call to make in attack. 

Romelu Lukaku scored and assisted from the bench vs New Zealand. He may be recalled to the XI for this big match.

Coach Pape Thiaw dropped both Kalidou Koulibaly and Malick Diouf from the back four in the last match. The duo could again be left out of this match. 

Pape Gueye is pushing to start after his brace from the bench vs Iraq. Ismaila Sarr could lead the line with Nicolas Jackson left on the bench.
