Union Berlin will be hopefuly of a home victory at the Stadiun An der Alten Forsterei on Sunday when they face Schalke who have lost their last four Bundesliga matches.

Union Berlin have hardly impressed since the break and their drop towards the relegation zone will be worrisome. First up they lost 2-0 at home to Bayern Munich before they suffered a 4-0 derby defeat to Hertha Berlin.

They got a credible point in a 2-2 draw at home to Mainz where they ended with 10 men after Robert Andrich was given his marching orders. Last time out they lost 4-1 to Borussia Dortmund although Sebastian Andersson scored his 12th goal of the season.

Forward Sebastian Polter is suspended for this clash while winger Sheraldo Becker will also miss the match through. Becker is expected to return in the coming week. Akaki Gogia remains out but could also be back towards the end of June.

Midfielder Robert Andrich is set to return after serving his one match suspension in the last match.

Schalke have been atrocious in 2020. An impressive start to the season has been almost completely wiped out although they are in no real danger of relegation. Their last Bundesliga victory came on 17 January - 12 league matches ago. Included in that is seven defeats and four draws.

Since returning from the break Schalke have looked toothless losing 4-0 away to Dortmund, 3-0 at home to Augsburg and 2-1 away to Fortuna Dusseldorf. In their last match Schalke suffered another costly 1-0 home defeat to Werder Bremen.

Schalke have struggled both defensively and going forward so there isn't much to look for in terms of form at the moment. It only gets worse once one looks at the form of Schalke 04 on the road. In their last six Bundesliga away games Schalke 04 have only managed to score once.

Central midfielder Suat Serdar is out for the season with a knee injury while Omar Mascarell will not be fit but should be back soon.

Also on the injury list is Amine Harit while Weston McKennie is suspended. This leaves Schalke extremely short in the middle of the park.
