2021-22 Season

Mamelodi Sundowns striker Peter Shalulile took the top scorer honour. He netted 23 PSL goals, nearly breaking the PSL record (held by former Kaizer Chiefs and Portsmouth striker Collins Mbesuma.

This season saw Shalulile score successive hattricks and become the first player to do so in the PSL. Overall, he scored 30 goals in all competitions.

2022-23 Season

The Golden Boot was shared this season between Cape Town City’s Khanyisa Mayo and the usual suspect, Peter Shalulile of Mamelodi Sundowns.

A paltry 12 goals was enough to take the top goalscorer award in this season. Shalulile had some injury problems and only started 19 PSL matches, scoring 10 goals from open play and two penalties.

2023-24 Season

In the 2023-24 season, we saw an uptick in goalscoring with five different players hitting double figures. In the end, Tshegofatso Mabasa took the Golden Boot award after scoring six goals on loan at Moroka Swallows and 10 goals for his parent club, Orlando Pirates.

Iqraam Rayners finished in second spot with 15 league goals, including scoring five in one game. His scoring exploits led to a big-money move to Sundowns before the 2024-25 season.

Shalulile netted a disappointing nine league goals with five of those coming in the last six PSL matches of the season.

2024-25 Season

The top three scorers last season were all from Mamelodi Sundowns. Lucas Ribeiro took the Golden Boot award with 16 goals, before his acrimonious departure from the club.

Iqraam Rayners netted 14 goals and Arthur Sales (along with Devin Titus of Stellenbosch FC) scored eight times.

2025-26 Season

Sede Dion of Golden Arrows took the Golden Boot with 14 goals to his name. Iqraam Rayners of Mamelodi Sundowns ended on 12 goals whilst his teammate Brayan Leon scored 10 goals despite only arriving in January.

Rele Mofokeng of Orlando Pirates also scored 10 league goals before moving to Royal Union Saint-Gilloise in Belgium.
