Sevilla vs Valencia La Liga Predictions - Valencia to go down to a Miguel Sierra goal

Editor
Last updated: 37 minutes ago

Sevilla enters their La Liga clash against Valencia in strong form, boasting 7 points from 4 matches and a solid home advantage. Despite not winning any of their last six matches against Valencia, Sevilla’s current momentum and attacking threat place them as favorites. Valencia has struggled, with only 1 point from 4 matches and significant injury woes, compounded by a lack of attacking output. The key prediction is a Sevilla win to nil, with Miguel Sierra to score, and Valencia ending goalless.

Sevilla vs Valencia Predictions

Sevilla’s stronger form, home advantage and greater attacking threat should prove decisive against a Valencia side struggling badly for goals and confidence.

  • Sevilla have won 6 of their last 9 matches.
  • Sevilla have conceded just 8 goals in 9 matches.
  • Sevilla have scored 7 goals in 4 matches.
  • Sevilla have 7 points from their 4 La Liga matches this season.
  • Sevilla’s Miguel Sierra has scored 3 goals in 7 matches.
  • Valencia have scored 3 goals in their last 6 matches.
  • Valencia have failed to score in 4 of their last 6 matches.
  • Valencia have just 1 point from 4 La Liga matches this season.

Head-to-Head

Valencia have won two of their last three matches against Sevilla, with three matches ending in a draw.

Sevilla Form

Sevilla have made an encouraging start to the new La Liga campaign, collecting seven points from their opening four matches to sit seventh. Luis Garcia Plaza’s side began with victories over Rayo Vallecano and Athletic Bilbao before losing 3-1 to Atletico Madrid and drawing 1-1 with Espanyol last weekend.

Sevilla have scored in every league match so far, although defensive discipline remains an issue, with red cards featuring regularly during their early-season fixtures. Home advantage should strengthen their prospects against struggling Valencia, particularly given the visitors’ problems in front of goal.

Recent history is less encouraging, however, with Sevilla failing to win any of their last six meetings with Los Che and losing 2-0 when the teams last met in March. Nevertheless, their superior start to the season, greater attacking output and Valencia’s current lack of confidence provide strong reasons for expecting Sevilla to take control of Friday’s contest.

Valencia Form

Valencia travel to Seville desperately searching for a change in momentum after collecting only one point from their first four league matches. Carlos Corberan’s team opened with a goalless draw against Celta Vigo but have since suffered three consecutive defeats against Real Betis, Deportivo La Coruna and Barcelona.

The latest setback was particularly damaging, with Valencia beaten 5-0 at home by the champions. Their attacking output has also been a major concern, with Los Che scoring just once in four La Liga games. There is at least encouragement in their recent record against Sevilla: Valencia are unbeaten in six matches against Friday’s opponents and won 2-0 at the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan in March.

Injuries have further complicated Corberan’s task, and another defeat would deepen the pressure surrounding the bottom-placed side. Valencia must tighten defensively while finding considerably more threat in attack if they are to extend their impressive head-to-head sequence.

Sevilla vs Valencia Team News & Squads

Sevilla will be without Arouna Sangante, who suffered an ankle injury against Espanyol and is also suspended, while Ruben Vargas has been ruled out with a knee problem.

Valencia have the greater injury burden: Jose Copete, Umar Sadiq, Dimitri Foulquier, Luis Rioja and Mouctar Diakhaby have remained behind, while Guido Rodriguez travelled but is not medically cleared to play. Justin de Haas has returned to the travelling squad.

Sevilla (predicted XI): Vlachodimos; Iglesias, Diaz, Salas, Suazo; Kochorashvili, Agoume, Guridi; Sierra, Ure, Stassin.

Valencia (predicted XI): Dimitrievski; Maffeo, Martinez, Cordoba, Tarrega, Gaya; Guerra, Pepelu, Dieng, Vazquez; Duro.

Verdict

I am backing Sevilla to win. I am also backing Miguel Sierra to score for Sevilla, while Valencia’s lack of goals has me backing them to end the game goalless.
