West Ham vs Wrexham English Championship Predictions - Bowen to extend West Ham’s winning run

Editor
Last updated: 51 minutes ago

West Ham are in excellent form, winning three straight and climbing into the promotion places, mainly thanks to Jarrod Bowen’s attacking prowess. Wrexham, while showing improved away discipline, still struggle for goals. Historically, these teams haven't met in the league for over 45 years, making this encounter one to watch. The key prediction is a West Ham win, likely with Bowen scoring. Additionally, Wrexham's Kieffer Moore is expected to play aggressively and could receive a yellow card.

West Ham vs Wrexham Predictions

West Ham have made a great start to the season while Wrexham have managed to scrape just one win from six league matches.

  • West Ham have conceded 1 goal or less in 7 of their last 10 home matches.
  • West Ham have won 4 of their last 5 home games.
  • West Ham’s Jarrod Bowen has scored 3 goals in his last 3 matches.
  • West Ham have scored 10 goals in their last 5 matches
  • Wrexham have just 1 win in their last 9 matches.
  • Wrexham have scored 5 goals in their last 4 matches.
  • Wrexham striker Kieffer Moore has been awarded 1 yellow card this season.

Head-to-Head

The two teams are meeting in a league clash for the first time in 45 years. West Ham have won three, lost four and drawn six of their 13 matches against Wrexham.

West Ham Form

West Ham appear to have found their stride after a difficult start to life back in the Championship, winning three consecutive league matches to climb into the promotion places. Nuno Espirito Santo’s side have scored 10 goals across victories over Wolves, Derby and Bolton, with Jarrod Bowen particularly influential, contributing three goals and two assists in six league starts.

The Hammers remain vulnerable defensively, having kept only one clean sheet in eight competitive matches, but their attacking form has compensated. Friday’s clash also comes during a demanding run of fixtures, so squad management could be important as West Ham chase a fourth straight league win.

Wrexham Form

Wrexham arrived at the London Stadium in improving form after extending their unbeaten Championship run to three matches. Phil Parkinson’s side have taken seven points from that sequence, including an impressive 3-0 victory at Millwall and draws against Swansea and Burnley. Their defensive organisation has strengthened considerably, conceding only once across those three games, although goals remain harder to come by overall.

Wrexham have drawn four of their opening six league fixtures and have proved particularly competitive away from home. A first league meeting with West Ham in more than 45 years presents another stern test, but recent performances suggest the visitors should not be underestimated.

Wrexham's bustling striker Kieffer Moore is regularly blow up for fouls. He has one yellow card this season already and with his side desperately pressing for a tough away win to West Ham he’s likely to get stuck in against West Ham, so I’m backing him to pick up a card, although I’d also back him to score.

West Ham vs Wrexham Team News & Squads

West Ham (predicted XI): Hermansen; Veltman, Mavropanos, Kilman, Scarles; Bowen, Mukasa, Engels, Solomon; Piroe, Pablo.

Wrexham (predicted XI): Patterson; Vyner, Hyam, Doyle; Kabore, M James, Whiteman, Ekomie; Rathbone, O'Hare; Moore.

Verdict

I am backing West Ham to win. I am also backing Jarrod Bowen to top score for West Ham. The aggressive Wrexham striker Keifer Moore is a good bet to be carded during the match.
