Lions vs Griffons Predictions - Lions to smash Griffons in Currie Cup

Lions beat the Griffons 39-22 last season in the Free State.

The Lions have been superb all season and have won eight of their nine games. Their only defeat came against the Sharks earlier in the tournament.

The Johannesburg side just need to get the win to secure top spot but considering the opposition, they are likely to take a bonus point from this fixture.

Last week was massive for the Lions as they traveled to the Bulls, who were top of the table at the time. The Lions were very impressive, dominating from the first whistle to win 57-33.

The Lions will most likely rest plenty of players for this fixture. Confident of the win they need, key players need rest ahead of the semi-finals.

The Griffons have had another season they’d rather forget. Once again, they are rooted to the bottom of the table and have conceded plenty of points.

With just three points from this campaign, serious questions need to be asked whether the Northern Free State side belongs in the top division. Last week, the Sharks put 75 points on the Griffons, and they have only conceded under 40 points once this entire season.

While the Griffons came within two points against a weakened Cheetahs side in round four, they have not come remotely close to another win since, or before that.

The Griffons make plenty of changes every week and that is likely to continue.
