Chelsea vs Man United Preview - Struggling United can stifle Chelsea at Stamford Bridge

Chelsea take on Manchester United in the Premier League, with the main tip being a draw in the Full Time Result market. Chelsea have struggled for consistency at home, highlighted by a recent defeat to Tottenham and a penalty shootout loss to Liverpool in the EFL Cup. Manchester United have also been out of form, drawing 1-1 in three of their last four league matches and losing their last two games. Both teams' lack of recent wins and inconsistent performances support the prediction of a stalemate at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea vs Man United Predictions

Chelsea have looked superb at times under Alonso but at home they have been very inconsistent - last weekend a case in point against Spurs. We fancy a struggling United to fight for a point at the Bridge.
  • Chelsea are winless in their last 2 matches.
  • Chelsea have drawn 3 of their last 6 home games against Man United.
  • Man United have drawn 1-1 in 3 of their last 4 Premier League games.

Head to Head

Man United have an 85-57 advantage against Chelsea, alongside 57 draws.

Chelsea Form

Xabi Alonso’s Chelsea have had mixed results in the 2026/27 campaign. The London side are winless in five of their 11 matches in all competitions.

Chelsea have failed to win in four of their previous six. This run started with a 2-2 home draw against Hull and a 3-0 away loss at Brentford.

The Blues showed improvements after the international break, beating Bournemouth 5-1 and Everton 2-0. Chelsea then lost 2-0 at home agains struggling Tottenham and had 0.47 XG and seven shots.

Alonso’s side drew 1-1 at Liverpool in the EFL Cup on Wednesday and were eliminated after a 6-5 defeat on penalties. Morgan Rogers scored first before Liverpool equalised and the Blues allowed 2.1 XG.

Manchester United Form

Michael Carrick is under pressure at Man United and has been given more time to turn around the team’s poor recent form. United have won just two of 12 matches this season, drawing four.

All four draws came in the Premier League. The Red Devils drew 1-1 in three consecutive games at Fulham and Leeds and at home against Tottenham.

The Manchester side have lost their previous two matches. That run began with a 4-1 Champions League loss at Como, where United had -1 XG.

Carrick’s side were comfortably beaten 3-0 at home by Bournemouth on Sunday. The Red Devils allowed 2.15 XG, conceded twice before half time and let in a late third.

Predicted Starting Lineups

Chelsea (4-2-3-1): Mike Penders; Josh Acheampong, Wesley Fofana, Levi Colwill, Jorrel Hato; Moises Caicedo, Romeo Lavia; Pedro Neto, Morgan Rogers, Cole Palmer; Danny Welbeck

Man United (4-2-3-1): Senne Lammens; Leny Yoro, Harry Maguire, Lisandro Martinez, Diogo Dalot; Andrey Santos, Carlos Baleba; Amad Diallo, Youri Tielemans, Bruno Fernandes; Bryan Mbeumo

Verdict

Chelsea have been off the pace recently and lack consistency. Man United will want a response after back-to-back losses and can hold the Blues to a Premier League stalemate.
