Mamelodi Sundowns are heading to Qatar in December after FIFA confirmed the dates and venues for the final three matches of the 2026 Intercontinental Cup.

The Brazilians booked their place in the FIFA Challenger Cup after beating Al-Ahli 2-1 at Loftus Versfeld on 19 September, with Nuno Santos scoring both goals.

FIFA Confirms Qatar as Venue

FIFA has confirmed that Qatar will host the tournament’s final three matches on 9, 12 and 16 December. The FIFA Derby of the Americas and FIFA Challenger Cup will both take place at Jassim bin Hamad Stadium in Doha.

The final will be staged at Ahmad bin Ali Stadium in Al Rayyan, where PSG will await their opponents.

Sundowns Await Their Next Opponents

The FIFA Derby of the Americas takes place on Wednesday, 9 December, when Toluca face the winners of the Copa Libertadores. The victors will then meet Sundowns in the FIFA Challenger Cup on Saturday, 12 December, with a place in the final at stake.

Masandawana secured their progression with a 2-1 victory over Al-Ahli, as midfielder Nuno Santos struck in the 17th minute before netting the decisive goal nine minutes from time.

PSG Stand Between Sundowns And Global Glory

The FIFA Intercontinental Cup final is scheduled for Wednesday, 16 December, at Ahmad bin Ali Stadium. PSG, the defending champions and 2025-26 UEFA Champions League winners, have a direct place in the showpiece match.

Sundowns must first overcome their Challenger Cup opponents, but victory would set up a major clash with the French giants for the global crown.
