How Kaizer Chiefs Could Line Up - Key Fitness Dilemmas in Predicted XI to face Orlando Pirates
Kaizer Chiefs are predicted to start Brandon Petersen in goal and Wandile Duba as striker for their Premier Soccer League match against Orlando Pirates at FNB Stadium on 31 October 2026. Petersen returns as captain after injury, while Duba’s recent hattrick and 10 goals in 14 domestic matches highlight his form. Injuries to Adolt Mtasinga, Siphesihle Ndlovu, and Thabiso Monyane impact the line-up, with Reeve Frosler expected at right back and Lebohang Maboe partnering Sibongiseni Mthethwa in midfield. The predicted XI reflects recent performances and current fitness.
- Brandon Petersen is set to start in goal for Kaizer Chiefs after returning from injury.

Kaizer Chiefs face Orlando Pirates in the Premier Soccer League on 31 October 2026 at FNB Stadium. Kickoff is at 3.30 PM SAST.
Below you can find the predicted starting XI from coach Fernando Da Cruz ahead of the Soweto Derby.
GOALKEEPER
Chiefs have used a different goalkeeper in each of their last three matches. Renaldo Leaner played the first leg against Red Arrows, but sustained a finger injury.
Bruce Bvuma kept a clean sheet in the second leg vs Red Arrows, but was dropped in midweek as Brandon Petersen returned. The latter is the captain and is now fully fit to start against Pirates after an injury kept him out for nearly two months.
DEFENCE
At right back, Thabiso Monyane is injured. This leaves Reeve Frosler as a certain pick in that role.
Centre back is a real quandary. Rushwin Dortley played his first match in 18 months in midweek and was excellent. Can he start a second match in five days? Chiefs could opt for caution and instead recall Inacio Miguel.
Thabo Moloisane is set to partner Miguel in defence. Paseko Mako may keep his place at left back, although Bradley Cross is pushing hard for a recall.
MIDFIELD
Adolt Mtasinga and Siphesihle Ndlovu are out injured and will no part. Lebohang Maboe is fit and is set to partner Sibongiseni Mthethwa in the engine room. Youngster Thulani Mabaso is set to feature from the bench.
Mduduzi Shabalala is highly likely to start in the number ten role. The alternative is to use three central midfielders or to hand a rare start to Ethan Chislett.
ATTACK
In attack, Wandile Duba will lead the line after his midweek hattrick and he has scored 10 goals in his last 14 domestic matches.
Mfundo Vilakazi and Pule Mmodi are set to fill the wide areas. Langelihle Phili is still out with an ankle injury and is unlikely to even make the bench.
Predicted Starting XI (4-2-3-1):
Brandon Petersen - Reeve Frosler, Thabo Moloisane, Inacio Miguel, Paseko Mako - Lebohang Maboe, Sibongiseni Mthethwa - Mfundo Vilakazi, Mduduzi Shabalala, Pule Mmodi - Wandile Duba.
