PSL Announces April Monthly Awards - Sundowns Coach and Pirates Star Scoop Accolades

The Betway Premiership Monthly Awards for April announced Miguel Cardoso of Mamelodi Sundowns as Coach of the Month after a strong performance with three wins and two draws. Orlando Pirates' Oswin Appollis impressed by winning both the Player of the Month, with four goals and an assist, and Goal of the Month, recognized for his stunning long-range strike against AmaZulu. The panel, comprised of leading journalists and pundits, highlighted both individual and team excellence in South Africa’s top league.

The Premier Soccer League has confirmed the Betway Premiership Monthly Awards winners for the April period.

The accolades went to representatives of Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates. 

Coach of the Month


Mamelodi Sundowns' coach Miguel Cardoso scooped the award for the third straight time after leading his club to three wins and two draws in five matches.

Cardoso faced competition from Kaizer Chiefs' co-coaches Cedric Kaze and Khalil Ben Youssef after guiding their side to three wins in their five fixtures in April.

Player of the Month


This award went to Pirates' winger Oswin Appollis. The diminutive attacker scored four goals in four matches. 

He also provided one assist during the period in question.

Goal of the Month


This honour also went to Orlando Pirates wide man Oswin Appollis. His long-range strike against AmaZulu at Orlando Stadium on the 18th of April showed his class. 

The April judging panel was formed of journalists and pundits, including the following: BBK Kortjaas (Sunday Times/Power FM, Convenor), Vaylen Kirkley (NewZroom Afrika), Reggie Ndlovu (SuperSport), Jabulani Dlamini (Siyakhula Sports News), Mihlali Baleka (The Star).
