Zimbabwe Women are expected to retain the same XI as they look to respond after defeat in the opening game of the series. Their batting will again depend heavily on Nyasha Gwanzura, Kelid Ndhlovu, Beloved Biza, Modester Mupachikwa and Michelle Mavumga to provide greater resistance.

Mupachikwa was the standout with the bat in the first match, top-scoring with 36 from 43 balls and striking five boundaries. She received some support from Mavumga, who made 21, while Nomvelo Sibanda contributed 15, but Zimbabwe will need stronger partnerships and more runs through the middle order if they are to challenge South Africa more effectively.

With the ball, Gwanzura impressed most in the series opener, returning 2/19 from four overs. She will once again be central to Zimbabwe’s chances of making early inroads, with Sibanda, Biza, Tendai Makusha and Lindokhule Mabhero also expected to play important roles as the hosts search for a more disciplined overall performance.

South Africa Women Form

South Africa Women will head into the second match with confidence after securing a comfortable victory in the series opener in Bulawayo. Their batting looked assured, with Anneke Bosch producing the standout performance and setting the tone for the visitors.

Bosch struck an excellent 83 from just 44 deliveries, finding the boundary 11 times and clearing it on three occasions. Nondumiso Shangase also chipped in with 18 from 22 balls, while captain Laura Wolvaardt, Faye Tunnicliffe, Annerie Dercksen and Kayla Reyneke provide further depth through the order. South Africa will be looking for another strong collective batting display as they aim to tighten their grip on the series.

Their bowling unit also offers plenty of options, with Eliz-mari Marx, Nthabiseng Nini, Caitlin Wyngaard, Seshnie Naidu, Reyneke and Dercksen all capable of delivering important breakthroughs. After a convincing opening performance the Proteas will be favourites to build on that momentum and move another step closer to wrapping up the series.
