Nigeria vs Mozambique Predictions

Nigeria have been very good at AFCON thus far but they do tend to concede goals. For this reason, I am backing the Super Eagles to advance, but Mozambique should find a goal.

Nigeria Form

Nigeria have failed to keep a clean sheet at the Africa Cup of Nations but found a way to win all three games. Alex Iwobi assisted goals for Semi Ajayi and Ademola Lookman in a 2-1 win against Tanzania.

Lookman ran the show against Tunisia, assisting Victor Osimhen and Wilfred Ndidi before scoring himself to establish a 3-0 lead. The Super Eagles conceded twice, the 3-2 victory securing a spot in the Round of 16.

Eric Chelle’s side were too good for Uganda in their final group match, winning 3-1 in Fez. Samuel Chukwueze provided two goals for Raphael Onyedika following Paul Onuachu’s opener.

Nigeria Predicted Lineup & News

Nigeria (4-3-1-2) Stanley Nwabali; Bright Osayi-Samuel, Semi Ajayi, Calvin Bassey, Bruno Onyemaechi; Raphael Onyedika, Wilfred Ndidi, Alex Iwobi; Ademola Lookman; Akor Adams; Victor Osimhen

Expect Eric Chelle to bring Wilfred Ndidi, Alex Iwobi, Ademola Lookman and Akor Adams back into the starting side here.

Mozambique Form

Mozambique hardly looked like scoring in their opening match at AFCON, a 1-0 defeat to Ivory Coast. They had two shots on target and 0.24-1.30 expected goals.

Chiquinho Conde’s side found their scoring boots in a 3-2 victory against Gabon. Geny Catamo assisted Faizal Bangal before netting a penalty, Diogo Calila making it 3-1 before holding on under heavy pressure.

The Mambas ended the group stage with a 2-1 loss to Cameroon. Catamo opened the scoring but they were eventually overpowered, ending with 1.07-2.35 xG.

Mozambique Predicted Lineup & News

Mozambique (4-2-3-1) Ivane Urrubal; Bruno Langa, Mexer, Edmilson Dove, Infren Matola; Manuel Kambala, Guima; Geny Catamo, Domingues, Witi; Faizal Bangal

Bruno Langa replaced Diogo Calila after 15 minutes against Cameroon and could start at right-back. Faizal Bangal competes with Stanley Ratifo for a spot up front.

Verdict
