Madagascar and Comoros will face off in the COSAFA Cup third-place playoff, with both teams having similar records so far. Both squads aim to give all players tournament experience, predicting a tight contest likely to end in a draw. Madagascar started with a win against Tanzania but lost to Angola in the semi-final. Comoros began strong against Zambia but faltered against South Africa. With key players missing, expect an evenly matched game.

Madagascar vs Comoros Predictions

These two come into this third-place playoff with very similar records in the COSAFA Cup this year. Considering both squads will likely use this to ensure all players get a game in the tournament, it’s tough one to call. A draw is my best bet.

Head to Head

Madagascar hold a 4-1 lead in seven games. There have been two draws.

Madagascar Form

Madagascar arrived at the 2025 COSAFA Cup with pretty inconsistent form in their rearview mirror. They also didn’t come with their strongest available side as they had friendlies to play as well.

Despite that, Madagascar got their campaign off to a winning start, defeating Tanzania in their opener. Their second and last game of the group saw them simply needing a point, and they got it with a 1-1 draw against Eswatini.

Lalaina scored before half time and although it was level in the 61st minute again, Eswatini couldn’t break Madagascar down to get the winner. Unfortunately, in the semi-final, came up horribly short against Angola, losing the game 4-1.

Comoros Form

Comoros were in a group of just three teams which made their opening fixture crucial. They got off to the start they desired with a 1-0 win against defending champions, Zambia.

Just a point was required to progress in their second fixture, something they managed with a 0-0 draw against Botswana.

In the semi-final against host South Africa, Comoros started poorly and were 2-0 down by the 14th minute. Ibrahim Madi pulled a goal back in the 30th minute but they conceded again on the hour mark to lose 3-1. Naimoudine Assane saw red in the 79th minute which means he will miss this game.
