South Africa vs Zimbabwe Predictions

With neither side at full strength, this should be a tight affair with few chances. I am backing it to end 0-0 after 90 minutes.

Zimbabwe have drawn their last 3 matches.

Head to Head

These two have met 18 times in the past with South Africa winning eight and Zimbabwe seven. There have been three draws.

South Africa Form

South Africa are in fine form as a national side but the team at the COSAFA Cup is mostly made up on U23 and second-string players.

In the COSAFA Cup opener, Bafana Bafana suffered a 1-0 defeat to Mozambique. It was a tight contest with very few opportunities until Mozambique took the lead in the 74th minute.

South Africa offered little threat up to that point and hardly had any chances to level matters late on.

South Africa Squad

Goalkeepers: Mondli Mpoto, Olwethu Mzimela, Samukelo Xulu

Defenders: Thabang Matuludi, Keanu Cupido, Thabo Moloisane, Rushwin Dortley, Athenkosi Mcaba, Malebogo Modise, Sergio Kammies

Midfielders: Brooklyn Poggenpoel, Antonio van Wyk, Jaedin Rhodes, Ethan Brooks, Liam Bern

Forwards: Devin Titus, Mfundo Thikazi, Asanele Velebayi, Tshepang Moremi, Ashley Cupido, Thabang Sibanyoni, Sinoxolo Kwayiba, Yanela Mbuthuma

Zimbabwe Form

Zimbabwe, like their opponents, have not sent a full-strength side to the COSAFA Cup. Their preferred lineup is playing a friendly against Burkina Faso on Friday.

Despite that, Zimbabwe managed a 0-0 draw against Mauritius in their COSAFA Cup opener. It was a decent start to the campaign.

The match had few chances with Zimbabwe probably having slightly better of the proceedings.

Zimbabwe Squad

Goalkeepers: Marley Tavaziva, Geoffrey Chitsumba, Prince Tafiremutsa

Defenders: Shane Maroodza, Andrew Mbeba, Emmanuel Jalai, Thubelihle Jubani, Isheanesu Mauchi, Tawanda Chisi

Midfielders: Daniel Msendami, Joel Phuthi, Juan Mutudza, Kingsley Mureremba, Mtokozisi Msebe, Tatenda Tavengwa, Richard Hachiro, Panashe Mutimbanyoka, Tinotenda Meke

Forwards: Macauley Bonne, Takunda Benhura, Tinotenda Benza, Denzel Mapuwa

Verdict

South Africa v Zimbabwe

This match is backed to end in a goalless draw.
