Cape Verde are preparing for their first-ever FIFA World Cup appearance with their opening game against Spain on 15 June. Serbia will not be at the World Cup after failing to get through their group, but still have a very good squad of players.

Cape Verde were very good in the World Cup qualifiers, qualifying ahead of Cameroon for the tournament in USA, Mexico and Canada.

The key result came in early September when Cape Verde defeated Cameroon 1-0 on home soil. It was followed by a 3-3 draw against Libya but a 3-0 win over Eswatini in the final qualifier secured their place.

Since then, Cape Verde have played two friendly internationals, both of which ended level after 90 minutes, only for Cape Verde to lose on penalties. A 0-0 draw with Iran and a 1-1 draw against Egypt.

Serbia Form

Serbia's form has been decent, and their qualifying campaign was good as well. However, they just couldn't get the points, or the big result required to secure their place at the World Cup.

Twice during qualifying, Serbia were trounced by England. They lost 5-0 at home after having a man sent off and suffered a 2-0 loss at Wembley.

Other than that, Serbia beat Lativa twice and Andorra but lost and drew against Albania. In their latest friendly matches, Serbia lost 3-0 to Spain and beat Saudi Arabia 2-1 at the end of March.
