Pirates' first match of the current campaign saw them draw 2-2 against Stellenbosch. At 1-1 Ntsikelelo Nyauza was sent off leaving the Bucs to fight with a man down.

Despite being a man down Goodman Mosele managed to give Pirates a 2-1 lead. It was a short lived lead as Stellenbosch equalised soon after, and could have won it had they not been wasteful in the latter stages.

Pirates are without the suspended Ntsikelelo Nyauza in defence after his red card against Stellenbosch.

Bucs have a raft of injuries to deal with including striker Zakhele Lepasa and attacking midfielder Thembinkosi Lorch. Paseka Mako and Innocent Maela are absent at left-back so Tebogo Tlolane could deputise there.
