AmaZulu vs Orlando Pirates Predictions - Sea Robbers to beat leaky Usuthu in PSL

Orlando Pirates are tipped to extend their dominance over AmaZulu in their upcoming clash, boasting a 20-3 head-to-head advantage. The Pirates have kept 18 clean sheets in their last 26 matches and are in sublime league form, having won 22 of their previous 29 games. In contrast, AmaZulu have managed just three wins in their last ten matches and recently suffered a disappointing cup exit. The recommendation is to back the Pirates for a win to nil and Over 2.5 team goals.

AmaZulu vs Orlando Pirates Predictions

Pirates have a crazy head-to-head record in this fixture. I see them winning to zero in this one, with over 2.5 team goals scored.

Key Stats – Pirates Backed For Win to Nil

  • AmaZulu have lost 9 of their last 11 matches vs Orlando Pirates.
  • AmaZulu have failed to score in 6 of their last 9 matches vs Orlando Pirates.
  • Orlando Pirates have won 20 of their last 27 matches.
  • Orlando Pirates have scored 28 goals in their last 11 matches (2.55 goals per game).
  • Orlando Pirates have kept 18 clean sheets in their last 26 matches.

Head to Head – Orlando Pirates Totally Dominant

Orlando Pirates hold a 20-3 advantage over AmaZulu with 16 draws in 38 meetings.

Bucs beat Usuthu 3-0 at home when the clubs last met in April 2026.

AmaZulu Form – Three Wins in 10

AmaZulu finished fourth last season and won their opening PSL match this term. A cup exit on Sunday made it just three wins in the last 10 fixtures.

After a superb 5-1 home win over Chippa United, they drew successive matches and lost 1-0 at home to Kaizer Chiefs. A 1-0 win at Durban City on the final day ended a strong season for Usuthu.

This term began with a 1-0 win vs Stellenbosch in Durban thanks to a penalty. On Sunday, they lost 4-3 at home to Sekhukhune United in the MTN8 as coach Arthur Zwane lamented their worst-ever defensive display under his tutelage.

Pirates in Sublime League Form – 22 Wins in Last 29 Matches

Pirates won 21 of their final 28 league matches last term to secure the league title, to go along with two domestic trophies. They’ve won both fixtures so far this season.

They won 2-0 at Stellenbosch and 3-0 at Magesi, but could only draw 0-0 at home to Durban City with the title up for grabs. They secured the trophy on the final day as they beat Orbit College 2-0.

This season started with a 2-0 home win over Milford FC. On Saturday, they outshot Durban City 41-7 across 120 minutes but only scored the winner in the dying embers of extra time for a 2-1 victory.

Predicted Lineups & Team News

AmaZulu (3-4-3): Mzimela; Allan, Fielies, Hanamub; Radebe, Maduna, Moralo, Mdaka; Zikhali, Ngwenya, Maqokola.

Coach Arthur Zwane remains without goalkeeper Darren Johnson after surgery. He may look to freshen up his defensive line after leaking four goals on Sunday.

Sphesihle Maduna has joined the club this week from TS Galaxy. He could be in line to start, but the match comes too soon for fellow midfielder Hendrick Ekstein.

Orlando Pirates (4-2-3-1): Chaine; Sebelebele, Seema, Zulu, Hotto; Dansin, Mbatha; Lungu, Appollis, Moremi; Radiopane.

Orlando Pirates have a fully fit squad to call upon. Sbangani Zulu is pushing for a first start in defence after replacing Nkosinathi Sibisi at half-time on Saturday.

Deon Hotto is expected to return to the starting XI at left back. Ghampani Lungu is hoping for a start, having netted an injury time winner as a substitute in the last match.

Verdict

I'm tipping Pirates to win to zero and to score Over 2.5 goals as a team.
