Race 4 – The Equator (1)

Jockey: Philasande Mxoli

Trainer: S. T. Pettigrew

The Equator is a 5-yr-old bay who pulled off a surprise win in his last race after failing to impress in his previous four runs, finishing 4-11-5-5. Before that he enjoyed a great streak of 1-1-5-2 finishes, so I’m backing him to regain his form to pick up a fifth career win.

The Equator faces a stiff challenge from Palace Prince (5.00), who ran 3-1 coming into this race, along with King’s Express, whose last four finishes were 3-1-7-3.

Race 5 – Kudikaran (6)

Jockey: Kaidan Brewer

Trainer: M. Pandaram

Kudikaran has had a 77-day break after a great debut streak of 3-4-1-3 since he first broke from the gates in March of 2026. He’ll be ridden by jockey Kaidan Brewer who has 153 career wins in 2,218 starts.

The 3-yr-old chestnut gelding faces some stiff opposition from recent winners in the shape of Vibe Sa (7.00), Antonio Gaudi (11.00) and Blizzard Snow (9.50). Dante’s Bond (5.50) has been strong until his last run (1-3-3-2-8) and Max The Magician (4.50), who has run 3-2-4-2 coming into Saturday at Turffontein will all pose a threat.

Race 7 – Trombolines (2)

Jockey: S Veale

Trainer: M/M de Kock

Trombolines has had a great first seven runs, starting with a stretch of 2-1-4-2 from his December ‘25 debut. A 127-day break was followed by a disappointing 10th place in June, but he stormed back to form with a second place followed by a first place on 22 July.

Gran Canaria (4.50) won two races back, but the big challenge should come from Ariovistus (4.35), who has two wins in his last five runs.

Race 8 – Into Dancing (4)

Jockey: Blaine Marx-Jacobson

Trainer: S. T. Pettigrew

Into Dancing has been a sensation since her debut just over a year ago. In 12 career starts she has pulled in four wins, two second places and three third-place finishes. Her other finishes were a sixth place on her debut as well as two fourth place finishes.

The 4-yr-old bay filly has finished 2-1-1 in her last three runs. American Beauty (4.00) will push her hard on the back of 1-2-1 finishes. Pearl In Her Crown (17.00) has run 2-1-8 ahead of Saturday while Hoc Est Vita (7.00) has been up and down with runs of 5-2-8-1-5.
