Jamaica Kingsmen begin a new chapter for cricket on the island as they enter the Caribbean Premier League for the first time. The franchise replaces the Jamaica Tallawahs and brings CPL action back to Sabina Park after a two-year absence, reviving one of the competition’s most passionate cricket markets.

The new team is backed by Kingsmen Sports Enterprise and arrives with significant expectation. With Jamaica returning to the CPL map, home support at Sabina Park could quickly become one of the Kingsmen’s biggest strengths.

Rovman Powell will lead the side in their debut season. The powerful middle-order batter is one of the Caribbean’s most experienced T20 leaders and brings both finishing ability and tactical know-how. Former Pakistan head coach Grant Bradburn has been appointed head coach, giving the squad an experienced figure to guide them through their first campaign.

The Kingsmen have put together a squad with plenty of all-round depth and match-winning potential. Andre Russell’s return to a Jamaica-based franchise is a major boost, while Pakistan opener Saim Ayub, wicketkeeper-batter Usman Khan, Keemo Paul, Hassan Khan and emerging all-rounder Maaz Sadaqat add variety across the line-up.

Player availability may change as the tournament progresses, but the Kingsmen appear to have enough depth to adjust. Although this is their first CPL season, their mix of leadership, power and all-round options should make them immediate playoff contenders.

Antigua and Barbuda Falcons Form

Antigua & Barbuda Falcons enter the new season with confidence after reaching the playoffs in 2025. They finished fourth in the league stage with five wins, four defeats and one no result, recovering well after an uneven start to the campaign.

Their late-season form was particularly encouraging, with three wins from their final four completed league matches. Those victories included important results against Guyana Amazon Warriors, Barbados Royals, St Kitts & Nevis Patriots and Trinbago Knight Riders, showing their ability to compete with strong opposition.

The Falcons have added further quality ahead of CPL 2026. One of their most exciting signings is Sufyan Moqim, the left-arm wrist-spinner who arrives after an outstanding year in franchise cricket. After being named Player of the Tournament in Peshawar Zalmi’s PSL title-winning campaign, he could become one of the standout overseas players in the competition.

Their batting also looks strong. Amir Jangoo comes in with excellent recent form, having scored 185 runs in his last four T20 innings at an average of 61.67. Karima Gore has also been reliable, making 158 runs in his last 10 matches. With Evin Lewis, Moeen Ali and Kusal Perera also in the squad, the Falcons have both stability and firepower.

The bowling attack gives them further balance. Jayden Seales has taken 10 wickets in his last nine T20s, while Moeen has already made an impact with two wickets in his most recent outing. Add Alzarri Joseph, Shadab Khan and Moqim, and the Falcons have a varied attack capable of troubling any batting line-up.

After last season’s playoff run, Antigua & Barbuda Falcons will believe they have the squad to go even deeper this time and challenge for a first CPL title.
