Orlando Pirates have announced the surprise signing of midfielder Thapelo Mokobodi from Stellenbosch.

The 23-year-old joins Pirates after a single season with Stellenbosch, where he made 28 appearances in all competitions. Only 13 of those outings came from the start, with 15 cameos from the bench.

Thapelo Mokobodi is the second midfielder to join the club from Stellenbosch in this transfer window. Mthetheleli Mthiyane has also been signed ahead of the new season.

Mokobodi has been handed the number 33 jersey ahead of Pirates' PSL title defence.

After signing on the dotted line, Thapelo Mokobodi had the following to say: “I am pleased to be here and look forward to meeting the rest of the team.
