The Portuguese tactician has also highlighted the importance of managing his players carefully as the Brazilians continue competing on multiple fronts.

Williams And Mokoena Injury Update

Cardoso has provided an update on the fitness of captain Ronwen Williams and midfielder Teboho Mokoena ahead of Sundowns' CAF Super Cup encounter. Mokoena suffered another setback after returning from international duty in poor condition.

Williams is following a similar recovery process, although his injury is not considered serious. "We cannot risk the health of a player and this is our role here, it's to protect our players," Cardoso explained.

Cardoso Praises Mvala's Return From Injury

Cardoso has expressed his satisfaction with Mothobi Mvala's return to form after the defender endured a lengthy injury layoff that affected much of his previous campaign. The 32-year-old impressed in Sundowns' Carling Knockout victory over Golden Arrows, completing 90 minutes.

The veteran defender silenced prolific opposition striker Junior Dion quiet. "I think today Mothobi proved to everybody that he is at his level," Cardoso said, while revealing that the defender is known as "the dragon" in the dressing room because of his strong mentality.

Sundowns' Plan To Keep Allende Revealed

Cardoso has made it clear that Mamelodi Sundowns want to retain the services of Marcelo Allende, whose contract is entering its final year. The Chilean midfielder has been an influential figure since joining the club in 2022, winning seven trophies.

He has earned praise for his consistency, durability and professionalism. "We're going to do our best, I'm pretty sure, to keep him with us for a long time," Cardoso said, describing the midfielder as a "fantastic example" of a professional footballer.
