La Liga predictions, 16 September 2026 – Matchday 6


Atlético Madrid vs Osasuna


Osasuna picked up seven points from their first three matches, but they were against some of the lower-ranked sides in La Liga. They then suffered back-to-back defeats to Alaves (5-2) and Espanyol (2-0), so they come into the match with their spirits low.

Atlético Madrid won three home matches in a row before a 2-2 draw against Villareal, scoring nine goals to three. Their home form is good, although they recently lost back-to-back away to Bilbao and Liverpool, but they are highly backed to win and have low odds. Osasuna have scored eight goals in their last five games on the road, so I’m edging towards a home win with both sides scoring. 

Deportivo de A Coruña vs Sevilla


Deportivo have been strong all season and are unbeaten in La Liga, although they have had three draws to go with their two wins. Sevilla have three wins and a draw in their last five on the road and have three wins and a draw in their first five, although they went down 3-1 to Atlético Madrid.

Sevilla have won three of their last five matches away to Deportivo, with two draws in those five matches. Considering the form of both sides and the fact that they have both scored in each of their La Liga matches this I’m keen to back a score draw which has attractive odds of 4.2, but I’m going to be conservative and stick with the safer both teams to score bet.

Barcelona vs Racing Santander


Don’t be tempted by the massive payout for a Racing win (15.00) as it’s almost certain to remain a payout only in your mind. Barca have beaten them in their last six matches with an aggregate score of 17-0.

Barca have won their last nine matches with 33 goals under their belt and just eight against. Racing have two wins and two defeats in five and have been finding the net but also conceding. Barca have scored 19 in their last four matches but have also conceded five goals, so with Racing netting six in their last three matches I’m backing a Barca win with Racing to score. 

Levante vs Athletic Bilbao


Athletic Bilbao have won three and drawn two of their last five matches away to Levante and have won two of their last three matches in La Liga without conceding, while drawing their last match 1-1.

Levante have failed to score in three of their five matches in La Liga this season. They beat Betis 5-2 at home but sucked up big defeats away to Espanyol (3-0) and at home to Barcelona (4-2). This looks like a tight win for the visitors.

Verdict

I’m backing goals for both sides as Atlético Madrid take on Osasuna, Deportivo de A Coruña host Sevilla and Barcelona hammer Racing Santander. Levante to take a defeat to Athletic Bilbao.
