La Liga Predictions - 19-20 September 2026, Matchweek 7

Editor
Last updated: 1 hour ago

La Liga’s Matchweek 7 sees several teams at crossroads. Celta Vigo remain winless and host a resilient Racing Santander. Getafe aims to exploit Malaga’s poor away record and goal drought for another home victory. Deportivo La Coruna and Betis promise thrills, both in strong form, but Betis’ fierce attack gives them a slight edge. Valencia, languishing at the bottom and struggling to score, face inconsistent Real Sociedad, who are poised for a rebound. The recommended picks: wins for Racing Santander, Betis, and Real Sociedad, with Malaga tipped to win while keeping a clean sheet.

La Liga Predictions - Matchweek 7

Celta Vigo vs Racing Santander

Celta Vigo head into Round 7 still searching for their first league victory of the season. They sit 15th with four points from six matches and have drawn three in succession, most recently 1-1 at home to Malaga. Their inability to turn competitive performances into wins has become the main issue, with two defeats also included in their last five outings.

Home advantage at Balaídos gives Celta another opportunity to change momentum but they will need greater attacking efficiency against a Racing side that has made the stronger start to the campaign.

Racing Santander have collected seven points from their opening five matches but arrive at Vigo encouraged by a 2-1 home victory over Alaves. Their early form has been mixed with two wins, two defeats and a draw, but they sit five places above Celta despite having played one match fewer.

Racing now have an opportunity to build on their latest success and strengthen their position in the top half of La Liga. Celta’s continued winless run should offer encouragement, although Racing will need to avoid the inconsistency that has already produced two defeats this season.

Getafe vs Malaga

Getafe have made an uneven start, collecting five points from five matches and sitting 14th. Their most recent outing ended in a 1-1 draw with Deportivo La Coruna and goals remain relatively scarce, with only three scored all season.

Enes Unal, Ramon Terrats and Martin Satriano have each contributed once. Home form offers some encouragement with Getafe conceding only twice in three matches. They also possess an excellent recent home record against Malaga, winning their last five home league meetings against the visitors.

Malaga remains without a league victory after five matches, taking just three points and scoring only twice. Their latest result was a 1-1 draw at Celta Vigo but their away record continues to cause concern, with seven goals conceded across three games on the road. Carlos Rubio and Adrian Nino are the only Malaga players to have scored this season. History also points to a difficult assignment: Malaga have lost their last five league visits to Getafe without hitting the net.

Improving their attacking output will be essential if they are to end their winless start to the season. Both sides have just three goals in five matches, but Malaga have just one point and two goals from four matches on the road, while Getafe have 11 points from five matches, so I’m backing a home win to nil.

Deportivo La Coruna vs Betis

Deportivo La Coruna have returned an impressive nine points from five matches and remain unbeaten, sitting seventh after two wins and three draws. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has been the standout performer, scoring five goals and establishing himself among La Liga’s leading marksmen.

Deportivo have also been solid at home, averaging two goals scored while conceding just once per match. Their latest result was a 1-1 draw at Getafe and they now face a major test against high-flying Betis. Deportivo have scored in seven of their last eight home league meetings with Saturday’s opponents.

Betis have made an excellent start by winning four of their opening five league matches to sit third with 12 points. Their latest success came away at Villarreal where they claimed a 2-1 victory and they have now won four of their last five outings.

Rodrigo Riquelme leads their scoring with two goals while Betis have also been one of the league’s busiest attacking teams, averaging almost 18 goal attempts per match. Their defensive record away from home is less convincing as they have conceded six goals in their last three matches on the road.

Valencia vs Real Sociedad

Valencia enters the weekend under considerable pressure after taking only one point from five matches and losing their last four. They sit bottom of the table after a 1-0 defeat at Sevilla with attacking problems causing a real concern. Valencia have scored just once all season and have failed to find the net in four of their five league matches.

Umar Sadiq is their only scorer so far. Home performances have offered little relief as they have shipped six goals conceded while failing to score themselves so they need a major improvement to arrest their slide.

Real Sociedad have seven points from six matches but arrive after a heavy 3-0 home defeat to Atletico Madrid. Their recent form has been inconsistent, mixing two victories with two defeats and a draw across their last five outings. Luka Sucic leads their scoring with two goals, while Sociedad have shown some attacking promise away from home, scoring four times in three matches.

They have conceded seven goals in their last three matches on the road but against a Valencia side struggling badly for goals Real Sociedad have a great opportunity to recover quickly from their latest setback.

Verdict

I’m backing wins for Racing Santander, Betis and Real Sociedad. I’m also backing Malaga’s lack of wins to inspire them to win with a clean sheet.
