Head to Head
The Sixers won their last game against the Perth Scorchers. They have not met this season yet.
Sydney Sixers Form
The Sydney Sixers began the season with a bang, winning their first four matches. However, they are winless in their last three, although one of those were abandoned due to the weather.
The Sixers remain second on the BBL table but the top three are all on nine points. In their last outing, the Sixers lost by 16 runs to the Melbourne Stars.
On a wicket that offered the bowlers something, the Sixers held the Stars to 156 in 20 overs. Sean Abbott was the pick of the bowlers, taking 3-29 in four overs.
James Vince stood firm in the chase, scoring 53 off 44 balls, but he couldn’t find much support. Only one other batsman managed to score 20+ runs as the Sixers reached 140 in 20 overs.
Sydney Sixers Injuries & Team News
The Sixers may want to make a few changes given their sudden poor run of form.
Perth Scorchers Form
The Perth Scorchers have been very inconsistent this season and it is showing on the table. They are fifth with three wins and four defeats in seven games.
Last time out, the Scorchers lost by four wickets to the Melbourne Renegades on home soil. A poor batting display by the top order put pressure on the lower order and it was only Ashton Agar’s 51 off 30 balls that got them to 147 in 20 overs.
It was a defendable total given the lively pitch and the Scorchers started brilliantly, taking four wickets by the time the Renegades reached 10 runs. They were then 44-5 but the Scorchers bowlers couldn’t close it out as they let it slip at the death.
Perth Scorchers Injuries & Team News
After the bowling effort in the last fixture, the Scorchers will be disappointed they didn’t get the win. The over reliance on Cooper Connolly on the batting front also bit them when the youngster failed to fire.
Verdict
The Sixers are backed to end their losing streak with James Vince backed for victory.
Cooper Connolly is tipped to top score for the Scorchers.
