MI Cape Town vs Paarl Royals Predictions

This Cape Town derby should be another cracking encounter. The loser will have another chance of qualifying for the final, so this is not quite a knockout. It is also played at a neutral venue which makes it the same for both sides.

I do, however, still fancy the Cape Town side to win with the Royals in a bit of a fight for form currently.

MI Cape Town have won 7 of their 9 completed matches.
MI Cape Town’s Ryan Rickelton scored 89, 63 & 59* in 3 of his last 5 matches.
Paarl Royals have lost their last 2 matches.
Paarl Royals Mitchell Owen scored 108 runs in the BBL final recently.

Head to Head

MI Cape Town have won three of their five matches against the Royals. This season they have already met twice with the Royals winning in Paarl and MI Cape Town at Newlands.

MI Cape Town Form

MI Cape Town have been the form side in the SA20, topping the table with 35 points. They had one no result, two defeats and seven victories in their 10 games which included five home wins.

Last time out, MI Cape Town fielded a much-changed side as top spot was secure. They still posted 201 runs batting first as openers, Sediquallah Atal (74) and Connor Esterhuizen (69) put on 133 runs for the first wicket.

The Cape Town side easily defended that score, bowling the Pretoria Capitals out for 106 runs. Dane Piedt took three wickets.

MI Cape Town Injuries & Team News

Expect a lot of changes to the MI Cape Town side. They rested most of their key players in the last game, but we should see the likes of Trent Boult, Kagiso Rabada, Ryan Rickelton and Rassie van der Dussen back in the side.

Paarl Royals Form

Paarl Royals have looked really good this season, winning seven and losing three of their 10 games. Concerning for them will, however, be the fact that they have lost their last two games.

The loss of Joe Root at the top of the order has certainly had an effect on the Royals. They have struggled for runs since his departure. In their last outing against the Sunrisers, the Royals bowled first, conceding 148 runs in 20 overs.

It was a very chaseable score, but the Royals fell horribly short. They were bowled out for 100 runs as only Rubin Hermann showed any fight with the bat.

Paarl Royals Injuries & Team News

Mitchell Owen was signed to replace Joe Root and although he failed in his first game, will certainly be looking to replicate his Big Bash form in this qualifier.

Verdict

MI Cape Town v Paarl Royals

MI Cape Town are backed for victory in this qualifier with Ryan Rickelton to top score.
