Kaizer Chiefs 2024-25 Season Preview - New Coach, Seven Signings, Same Goalscoring Woes
Kaizer Chiefs have been active in the transfer market, adding seven players, including goalkeeper Fiacre Ntwari and defenders Bradley Cross, Bongani Sam, Rushwin Dortley, and Inacio Miguel. Key central midfield and attacking roles were bolstered by Njabulo Blom and Gaston Sirino. However, the club's goalscoring issues persist. Coach Nasreddine Nabi's 4-2-3-1 formation aims to leverage strong defense and quick build-up play. A realistic expectation is a top-three finish, with a predicted fourth place.

They also signed Njabulo Blom on loan to bolster central midfielder and veteran playmaker Gaston Sirino for the front three. No key players have left the club but they have not truly addressed their goalscoring problems.
Key Players for Kaizer Chiefs
Ashley Du Preez will be crucial in attack with his pace and movement. It is not clear if he will be used as a central striker or in the wide areas.
Reeve Frosler will be important at right back to provide width and crosses. There is very little cover on that right flank so keeping Frosler fit will be key.
There are no other key players with many positions have two options of a similar standard. There are five central midfielders and plenty of central defenders but the attack is lacking.
Chiefs did not address their lack of a ruthless number nine and had several bids rejected for a new right winger.
Analysis of Kaizer Chiefs Tactics
Coach Nasreddine Nabi is expected to play a 4-2-3-1 formation. He usually picks one genuine winger and one narrow option to play between the lines.
Nabi’s previous club were excellent on set pieces and played a direct, attacking game. Whilst he favours short buildup play, his sides tend to play forward passes quite early.
Realistic Expectations for the 2024-25 Season
It would be fanciful to think of Chiefs as title contenders. Realistically, a push for a top-three finish would represent a very good season.
There are just too few goalscorers at the club to win matches consistently. Kaizer Chiefs should be solid at the back but may need to nick 1-0 wins.
Predicted Kaizer Chiefs Finish
The best-case scenario is third place.
Their predicted finish is fourth spot under their new coach.
